Overview of the role -

As a Lead Technical Program Manager, you'll play a vital role in reducing the risk and complexity in initiatives that span across multiple teams. You'll partner with engineering managers, product managers, and stakeholders to support the delivery of complex change throughout the lifecycle in a product led organisation. .

In addition to the above you will also work closely with the VP of Engineering for the area. Working with them to assist in iterating how the area operates overall. This will include problem spaces such as pragmatic delivery tracking, operational excellence and workforce planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Member of Program Leadership Team: Lead large-scale engineering programs from start to finish. Working alongside the EM, PM to form a core team working to deliver on time and actively managing feedback loops and scope throughout.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering teams, product managers, designers, and stakeholders to align objectives and develop clear execution roadmaps.
  • Stakeholder Communication: As part of the core team ensuring delivering regular updates and managing expectations around program progress and decisions.
  • Risk Management: Identify and address potential risks and dependencies across projects before they impact program goals or timelines.
  • Process Improvement: Enhance program management practices, tools, and methods to boost team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Team Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior program managers and engineering teams to build a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Define and track KPIs for program progress, quality, and timelines, reporting outcomes to senior leadership.

Who are we looking for -

  • Must have mastered project management fundamentals, including scope, schedule, budget, quality management, and risk assessment.
  • Should demonstrate proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, establish efficient processes, and manage complex release schedules.
  • Requires extensive experience in technical program management, working directly with software engineering teams.
  • Must possess strong technical acumen with ability to create and evaluate system-level technical designs.
  • Should have track record of developing and implementing successful product and technical roadmaps.
  • Excellent communication skills required—ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, from engineers to executives.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in technical program management
  • Demonstrated success in delivering multi-team technology programs at scale.
  • Thorough knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), product development cycle (PDLC), system design, and cloud architecture in a product led microservice organisation.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities, including experience influencing executive leadership. Knowledge of planning and tracking of multiple teams in Jira - please pull out as separate item
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a proven record of leading and influencing outside of direct line management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
