At Relativity Space, we have two audacious goals: to build the next great commercial launch company with Terran R and to become America's leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. Both contribute to our long-term vision of creating humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life to expand the possibilities of the human experience. This journey begins right here on Earth – where we design, build, and fly rockets to deliver customer payloads to orbit. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable rocket, fulfills the growing demand for launch capacity, thanks to our iterative approach that accelerates design, testing, and development while minimizing costs. While our groundbreaking research and development in 3D printing pushes the boundaries of large-scale additive manufacturing.

Your journey with us is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to shape the future of aerospace technology, additive manufacturing, and the human experience alongside a community of passionate, creative individuals. Join us on this extraordinary journey, as we work together to transform our vision into reality.

About the Team:

The launch operations team is a part of the Cape Canaveral launch site and is primarily responsible for the operational aspects of vehicle integration, payload integration, pad operations, countdown operations, recovery, and reusability. In the last year, the launch operations team was primarily focused on the final integration, checkouts, and execution of flying Terran 1. This includes everything from completing the vehicle final build to clearing the range of aircraft and vessels for launch to being the key operators in the countdown operation. In the last six months, the team has been supporting our team in Stennis with engine testing development and execution. In parallel, the team is working hand in hand with engineering teams on the design and build of critical infrastructure to support Terran R.

About the Role:

As a Senior Launch Instrumentation and Controls Technician, you will be at the forefront of creating a world-class orbital launch site. To be successful in this role, you should be able to lead projects to completion, ideally coming from a fast-paced aerospace environment where you have completed challenging projects while collaborating effectively across various groups. The ability to perform high-quality work with minimal direction across all major technical disciplines is crucial. You should have extensive experience in installing, verifying, and troubleshooting sensors that measure temperature, pressure, flow, displacement, and vibration. Additionally, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, ordering, and driving tasks, as well as delegating work. Providing feedback and maintaining communication with the pad engineering team to prevent issues and enhance the pad build/activation process is also a key part of this role. The position requires the ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Ideally, you possess additional experience in a related technical discipline and familiarity with industry standards and practices.

About You:

  • Extensive experience working with instrumentation, data, and control systems
  • Hands on experience working with electronic circuits and sensor types used to measure temperature, pressure, flow, displacement, and vibration
  • Demonstrated proficiency troubleshooting instrumentation and electrical systems using electrical fundamentals and basic tools.
  • Experience mentoring technicians
  • Knowledge and understanding of oscilloscopes, signal generators, and multi-meters
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, P&IDs, CAD drawings, and circuit schematics

Nice to haves, but not required:

  • Experience installing network-based equipment, integrating interfaces such as Ethernet, RS422, RS232, RS485, Modbus, CANbus, etc., and wiring/fiber with communication
  • Familiarity with harnessing techniques using mil-STD type connectors
  • Familiarity with intrinsically safe instrumentation installation in hazardous areas

Successful candidates must clear a background check administered by the US government to obtain clearance for on-site work at our government partner location in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
