About Abound

We’re redefining consumer lending in the UK, and beyond. Using advanced AI and Open Banking data, we make fair, affordable personal finance available to more people. While traditional lenders rely almost entirely on credit scores, we look at the full financial picture - how much you spend, and what you can afford to repay to build a deeper, more accurate understanding of each customer's unique financial situation.

And we've shown it works at scale. We’ve issued over £1.3bn in loans directly to customers while delivering market-leading credit performance - for every 10 defaults the industry expects, we see only 3. We also reached profitability just 2.5 years after launch.

Backed by £2bn+ of funding from top-tier investors including Citi, GSR Ventures, and Deutsche Bank, we’re recognised as one of Europe’s fastest-growing fintechs (Sifted, CNBC). Now, we’re expanding into new markets and product lines - and we’re looking for ambitious people who want to learn fast, take ownership, and grow with us.

About the role

We’re expanding access to affordable credit and we’re doing it by launching new credit products that genuinely move the needle. Our next major focus is launching a new car finance credit product, bringing Abound’s unique technology to a new and complex market.

As a Lead Product Manager, you will own the end-to-end delivery and success of this product - from idea to launch, and from launch to scale. This is a hands-on, high-accountability role. You’ll work closely with external partners and internal teams across engineering, data science, compliance, and operations.

This role is not about maintaining an existing roadmap. It’s about navigating ambiguity, making pragmatic decisions, and doing whatever it takes to get a product live, working, and commercially successful.

What you’ll be doing

Launching a 0 → 1 car finance product

  • Take ownership of launching a new car finance credit product, from discovery and MVP through launch and iteration

  • Define clear goals and success metrics across origination, conversion, risk, and commercial viability

  • Ruthlessly prioritise what matters most, focusing on speed, progress and learning over perfection

Execution with accountability

  • Drive cross-functional delivery across engineering, data science, operations, legal, and compliance

  • Own delivery plans, milestones, testing, and go-live readiness—and stay close until things are actually done and working

  • Step in hands-on where needed, especially during launches or live issues

Commercial & product performance

  • Own post-launch performance, proactively identifying and delivering improvements to conversion, approval rates, credit performance, and profitability

  • Use data, experimentation, and judgement to diagnose issues and unlock growth

  • Measure impact, challenge assumptions, and course-correct fast when things don’t work

Technical & decisioning leadership

  • Work closely with engineering on APIs, integrations, decisioning flows, and data pipelines

  • Partner with risk and data science teams to shape credit decisioning and policy implementation

  • Be technically fluent enough to make informed trade-offs, not just relay requirements

Who you are

  • 5+ years of experience solving complex problems at rapid speed, e.g. fintech or other technology startups, top-tier consulting firms or similar

  • Strong experience working with B2B clients or external partners, including shaping commercial propositions and managing competing incentives

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen: you can reason clearly about pricing, margins, unit economics, and growth trade-offs

  • High technical fluency: comfortable discussing APIs, data models, system constraints, and implementation details

  • Experience in UK consumer lending, especially car finance, is very valuable but not required

How you work (and what we value)

  • You favour pragmatism over perfection: MVPs, learning fast, and iterating beat over-engineering

  • You thrive in ambiguity and don’t rely on rigid job descriptions to define your impact

  • You take ownership, work hard when it matters and follow through until outcomes are delivered

  • You operate as part of one team, helping beyond your immediate remit and caring about the success of the wider business

  • You speak up, challenge constructively, and once decisions are made, commit and execute

What we offer

  • Everyone owns a piece of the company - equity

  • Hybrid with 3 days a week in the office

  • 25 days’ holiday a year, plus 8 bank holidays

  • 2 paid volunteering days per year

  • One month paid sabbatical after 4 years

  • Employee loan

  • Free gym membership

  • Team wellness budget to be active together - set up a yoga class, a tennis lesson or go bouldering
