Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Lead Product Designer to play an important role in how millions of consumers get started with Experian, stay engaged, and unlock value from our products.

Reporting to the Head of Product Design, you will spend around 40% of your time leading, mentoring, and growing a team of 3/4 designers, and the rest contributing hands on design work at a high level.

You will sit on the Product Design Leadership Team, and you will lead design across two product teams (domains) in the onboarding and activation space. This work is critical to how users experience Experian for the very first time.

This is a hybrid role, 2 days per week based in our London Office.

What you will do

  • Shape strategy: Partner with Heads of Product and senior stakeholders to define the UX vision and roadmap for onboarding, activation, and our membership domain
  • Lead and grow designers with regular 1:1s, feedback, and career development. You will help them do their best work while building a healthy collaborative team culture
  • Be hands-on where it matters and contribute to important design projects yourself from discovery to delivery while empowering your team to shine
  • You will promote growth design: Use data, experimentation, and user insight to improve activation, retention, and engagement
  • Raise the quality bar: Run critiques, workshops, and design rituals that bring teams together and push the craft forward
  • Communicate design decisions through clear storytelling, influencing senior leaders, engineers, and product managers alike
  • Champion user-centred outcomes while balancing business and technical constraints.

Tools and ways of working

  • Design and collaboration: Figma, Lucid, Confluence, Teams, or Jira (plus the usual post its and sharpies)
  • Research: Our dedicated user researchers conduct studies, and we expect our designers to run them too. We use Usertesting for remote research and are moving to Qualtrics for quant and NPS

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working in-house within cross functional, Agile product teams on software products that solve complex user needs
  • Product design experience in onboarding or growth is advantageous.
  • A portfolio that shows your process and strategy, not just great UI. We want to see how you think, the problems you have solved, and the outcomes you achieved
  • Stories to tell about mentoring or managing designers, ideally with experience line managing
  • Experience designing top performing native apps (iOS or Android) and responsive web
  • Comfort working with and contributing to design systems in Figma

Additional Information

Benefits package includes:

  • Hybrid working - 2 days a week in the office
  • Great compensation package and discretionary bonus
  • Core benefits include Pension, Bupa healthcare, Sharesave Scheme and more
  • 25 days annual leave with 8 bank holidays and 3 volunteering days. You can purchase additional annual leave.
