We're seeking an experienced Lead Product Designer to join our Experience Design (XD) team. 

 

The role:

 

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of five Product Designers focused on our native apps. 
  • Own the end-to-end design vision for the Rightmove app experience across iOS and Android. 
  • Define and communicate a long-term direction for our apps that aligns with product strategy and influences roadmaps. 
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Product, Engineering, and Commercial to shape the experience across Search, Move, and Home. 
  • Remain hands-on where valuable – exploring ideas, validating assumptions, and setting standards for design craft. 
  • Ensure consistent, scalable patterns across platforms and support the evolution of the design system. 
  • Drive improvements to the native app experience, raising quality, performance, and adoption of reusable patterns. 
  • Report to and work closely with the Head of Experience Design. 
  • Hybrid –2 days per week in the Soho, London office and 3 days from home. 

 

What you'll be doing:

 

  • Partner with the Head of Product, Engineering leadership, User Research, and other Lead Product Designers to make strategic decisions and shape the roadmap. 
  • Lead discovery and generative research, using insights and data to understand user needs and drive decision-making. 
  • Maintain a holistic, insight-driven view of the experience across core journeys. 
  • Shape user journeys and app flows, creating concepts that clarify direction and drive alignment. 
  • Raise design quality across UX, visual, content, and interaction design. 
  • Champion inclusive and accessible design practices, ensuring standards are upheld. 
  • Contribute to design system decisions and adoption across teams. 
  • Represent XD within Rightmove and stay engaged with best practice and industry trends. 
  • Support team hiring and recruitment when needed. 

 

What you'll bring to the role: 

 

  • Experience designing and shipping native app experiences for complex products. 
  • Experience managing and developing Product Designers with clarity, coaching, and support. 
  • Curiosity and creativity in exploring new technologies and approaches, including the responsible use of AI in design. 
  • Strong understanding of iOS and Android patterns, design languages, technical constraints and platform behaviours. 
  • Ability to influence design direction through insights, evidence, and rapid conceptual thinking. 
  • Leadership skills in recruitment and onboarding, providing clear direction
    and continuous feedback. 
  • Excellent collaboration, effective communication and storytelling skills with leadership, stakeholders and peers, building trust and nurturing strong relationships. 
  • A passion for continuous learning and development, with a proactive approach to enhance ways of working and collaboration, contributing to design operations for XD. 
  • A strong grasp of design systems, interaction patterns and scalable frameworks. 
  • Strategic thinking with commercial awareness,
    and experience balancing business goals with user value. 
  • A proactive approach to evolving ways of working and improving cross-team delivery and collaboration.
