Our vision is to give everyone the belief they can make their move. We aim to make moving simpler, by giving everyone the best place to turn to and return to for access to the tools, expertise, trust, and belief to make it happen.

We’re home to the UK’s largest choice of properties and are the go-to destination for millions of people planning their next move, reading the latest industry news, or just browsing what’s on the market.

We're looking for an experienced design leader to join our Experience Design (XD) team as a Lead Product Designer.

  • Lead, coach, and line-manage a team of three Product Designers.
  • Own the design vision for the Move & Home pillars, in alignment with product strategy.
  • This isn't a delivery role, but you’ll be hands on where it adds value, exploring ideas with your team, and guiding execution.
  • Collaborate closely with the Lead Product Designers, the Senior Product Manager, and Engineering leadership to inform domain direction.
  • Report to the Lead Product Design Manager for Consumer, and work as part of the XD leadership team.
  • Hybrid, 2 days per week in our Soho, London office and 3 days from home.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading, coaching, and developing your team, setting clear goals and giving continuous feedback while supporting their growth and development.
  • Holding a high bar for design craft and quality across your team's output, applying sound judgement and taste at scale.
  • Setting the standard for design system contribution and adoption, driving consistency and reuse, staying aligned with other Lead Product Designers and Brand.
  • Informing the strategy and direction for your domain, weighing risks, trends, and trade-offs, and connecting design decisions to business goals.
  • Staying fluent in relevant commercial metrics, showing how design decisions can move them.
  • Conducting research at a strategic level to shape product direction, articulating the user problems and opportunities that inform the domain's long-term vision.
  • Influencing decisions and direction across levels and disciplines without relying on formal authority, communicating clearly across meetings, writing, and async formats.
  • Championing inclusive and accessible design, and representing XD across Rightmove and externally, staying close to best practice and industry trends.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Proven experience managing and developing Product Designers.
  • Strong design craft, taste, and judgement.
  • The ability to hold a quality bar across other people's work, not just your own.
  • Expertise in design systems, interaction patterns, and scalable frameworks.
  • Fluency in the design challenges of complex, multi-sided platforms or marketplaces.
  • Strategic thinking that balances business and commercial goals with user needs and a long-term product vision.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and storytelling skills.
  • Curiosity and creativity in exploring new technologies and approaches, including the responsible use of AI in design.
  • A growth mindset, a proactive approach to learning, improving ways of working, and strengthening cross-team collaboration.
