Lead Power Platform Architect
London (EC2R 7HJ) or Manchester (M50 3SP) | Hybrid
Full time (35 hours per week)
Up to £95,000 per annum (Neg. depending on location and experience)

As our Lead Power Platform Architect, you’ll work confidently at both a strategic and hands‑on level, leading complex delivery work and guiding teams to build high‑quality, scalable solutions. You’ll partner with Domain Architects to maximise value, drive innovation and help shape new business and technical capabilities across Bupa. You’ll also strengthen our Power Platform delivery model and play a key role in evolving our architecture governance, developing clear standards and principles that support long‑term strategic alignment.
How you’ll help us make health happen
Establish policies, principles, patterns and practices for the definition of Power platform solution architectures
Manage trade-offs and balance functional, service quality and systems management requirements
Manage the relationship and communicate proposed decisions to senior stakeholders
Coordinate and manage the target solution architecture across multiple initiatives
Maintain a stable, viable architecture and ensures consistency of design and adherence to appropriate standards across multiple projects or initiatives.
Mentor and provide architectural direction to the Power Platform development team
Lead on the successful completion of required governance
Continually develop and evolve Power Platform solution patterns to accelerate future delivery
Partner with Data, Security, Risk, Privacy and Legal teams to ensure ways of working are continually improved and outcomes achieved
Maintain a catalogue of solution designs and contribute to the Enterprise Architecture target working with domain architect
What you’ll bring
Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert (PL‑600) is highly preferred.
Deep subject‑matter expertise in Power Platform architecture, implementation, governance and support.
Proven experience delivering IT strategies that drive meaningful business change.
Confident engaging with senior leaders, shaping proposals, and leading engineering teams through detailed solution design.
Strong background in delivering well‑architected, scalable and secure solutions.
Solid understanding of Security and Risk practices, with the ability to balance functional and non‑functional requirements.
Knowledge of Agile delivery, Product Management, and continuous process improvement methods.
Ability to mentor a small team of technical specialists.
Deep technical capability areas across Power Platform, SharePoint Online, Power BI/Fabric, Entra ID
Power Platform (Architecture, Design & Automation)
Skilled in Dataverse‑first solution design, including data modelling and performance optimisation
Strong understanding of canvas vs model‑driven app patterns, component libraries, and multi‑app architectures
Experienced in cloud flow automation, including error handling, retries, idempotency, concurrency controls, and monitoring
Designs robust integrations using standard and custom connectors
Power Platform Governance
Knowledge of tenant‑level guardrails, policies, and global settings
Defines and manages environment strategies across dev/test/prod
Experienced with environment‑level controls, including DLP, access management, managed environments, configuration and ALM/pipelines
SharePoint Online (Architecture & Integration)
Strong understanding of information architecture: site structures, navigation, metadata/content types, retention, scalable library/list design.
Experience designing security and permission models, including sensitivity labels and external sharing governance.
Understanding of integration patterns when using SharePoint with Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI, including performance considerations.
Power BI & Fabric (Modelling, Capacity & Operations)
Strong skills in data modelling and designing reliable semantic models.
Understanding of when to use Direct Lake, Import, or DirectQuery for performance and scale.
Ability to design solutions that use Fabric capacity efficiently, avoiding overload and managing concurrency.
Experience with workspace governance, RLS, endorsed content, and deployment pipelines.
Knowledge of connectivity and performance tuning (e.g., gateways, incremental refresh).
Familiar with monitoring Fabric capacity and resolving refresh failures or performance issues.
Entra ID (Identity, Access & Security)
Experience with app registrations, enterprise apps, service principals, app roles, delegated vs application permissions, Key Vault secrets, and least‑privilege design.
Understanding of authentication patterns such as OAuth and SSO.
Awareness of Conditional Access implications for service accounts, MFA, and device compliance.
Knowledge of operational identity practices: privileged access, break‑glass accounts, access reviews, auditing and logging.
