Aker Systems was founded in 2017 by a team of experienced technology professionals who recognised an opportunity to provide highly secure enterprise data platforms to large organisations.  We build and operate ground-breaking, ultra-secure, high performance, cloud-based data infrastructure for the enterprise. Our proprietary technology solutions drive performance and reduce costs while helping our clients to improve the management and sharing of data across their organisations.

In 2024, Aker Systems won the Breakthrough Culture Awards highlighting growth companies putting culture first. In 2020 Aker Systems was recognised as a ‘One to Watch’ on the Sunday Times Tech Track.  The Company was also recognised at the Thames Valley Tech Awards 2020; winning the Thames Valley Tech Company of the year, the Emerging Tech Company and High Growth Tech Business categories.  We encourage people of all different backgrounds and identities to apply.  We are committed to maintaining an inclusive, and supportive place for you to do your very best work.

We're looking for a Lead Technical Business Analyst to join our Product & Innovation team—someone who thrives at the intersection of complex technical systems and business value delivery.

As a core contributor to our product evolution, you will work closely with Product Managers, Solution Architects, and client-facing teams to drive the design and execution of secure, scalable cloud-native platforms—primarily across AWS, GCP, Azure, with expansion from UK Public Sector into BFSI and other regulated industries.

This role requires a sharp analytical mind, a solution-oriented mindset, and the ability to navigate ambiguity with resilience and structure. You’ll be working with cutting-edge tech—Java, Kafka, Kubernetes, event-driven and big data architectures—in a culture that values security, trust, and forward-thinking innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Solution Architects to capture, refine, and validate business and technical requirements
  • Translate business goals into clear technical specifications, including user stories, process flows, and data models
  • Perform end-to-end technical, business, and data analysis across our product offerings and client projects
  • Engage with clients to understand integration, configuration, and deployment requirements
  • Contribute to the design of event-driven, microservices-based solutions using modern cloud and container platforms
  • Support domain modelling using Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles
  • Define acceptance criteria, support test planning and UAT, and contribute to release readiness
  • Facilitate backlog grooming, sprint planning, and cross-functional alignment sessions
  • Serve as the vital link between engineering, QA, product, and client stakeholders

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Haves:

  • Proven experience as a Technical or Systems Business Analyst within a software or product-led environment
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native and distributed systems architectures
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Java, Kafka, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, big data flows, and asynchronous systems
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical diagrams, architecture specs, and API contracts
  • Deep understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and agile methodologies
  • Strong experience working in AWS or Azure environments
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Analytical thinking with a knack for solutioning complex technical problems

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Exposure to regulated domains (e.g., BFSI, healthcare, telecom, public sector)
  • Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger, RESTful services, and API-first design
  • Experience with agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and tools like JIRA, Confluence, Git
  • Prior involvement in cloud infrastructure or platform teams

Mindset & Culture Fit

We’re a team of doers, solvers, and thinkers who don’t just ship features—we build platforms that enable resilience, agility, and trust in some of the world’s most secure environments.

To thrive in this role, you must:

  • Be solution-oriented: Always looking forward, not get stuck on roadblocks
  • Be resilient under complexity: Able to navigate evolving requirements and tight feedback loops
  • Think in systems: Understand how parts interact, not just in silos
  • Bring a product-first mindset: Driven by user outcomes, not just documentation
Value collaboration, curiosity, and accountability
