Job Description

   

The Role

The SUSE Professional Services team is seeking a Lead Architect, fluent in both French and English, to work hands-on with our global enterprise customers in Europe. Our ideal candidate will have experience working with Kubernetes (preferably Rancher), strong technical and communication skills, and a good understanding of IT infrastructure, DevOps, open source software in general. Application development experience is a plus. Most importantly, the candidate must be excited about working to transform how organizations develop and run their applications. To succeed in this role you will need to be able to work closely with our customers to help them understand the impact SUSE can deliver for their business through its products and solutions. This role will be part of the EMEA Professional Services team, and will be compensated based on a combination of base salary and bonus. Lead Architects should expect some travel (around 20% of the time, on average) as the role will include both remote delivery to customers and onsite consulting and technical engagements.

We will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related field plus 10-15 years experience in job offered or related occupation, or the equivalent overall experience.

Focus Areas 

  • Working with customers to design and implement SUSE solutions, including those based on Kubernetes and Rancher.
  • Hands-on software configuration which could include building automation scripts and implementing integrations to solve customer problems
  • Maintaining an expert-level understanding of the SUSE portfolio of products
  • Understanding of an ecosystem of complimentary technologies
  • Explaining the value and impact of SUSE solutions for customers
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with customers
  • Providing technical leadership, advocating for customer needs and channeling feedback throughout the lifecycle of customer engagements
  • Demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working effectively in a proactive manner with both customers and colleagues, many of whom will be geographically distributed.
  • Ability to adapt and learn within a dynamic and fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • 10-15 years of hands-on experience working with relevant IT technology as a Consultant or engineer
  • Experience designing and implementing solutions for large enterprise customers
  • Ability to transform functional requirements into solutions that can be implemented and operated in production
  • Ability to lead the customer into driving solution adoption
  • Experience presenting on technical concepts to people with differing levels of technical understanding
  • Experience with containers and container orchestration: Kubernetes is a must; Rancher is a good-to-have.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD software: scripting and automation
  • Experience working in an enterprise Linux environment
  • Experience with open-source software solutions
  • Experience with virtualization technologies is a plus: kubevirt or Harvester
  • Experience with storage technologies is a plus: Longhorn or Ceph
  • Experience with security products is a plus (SIEMs, WAFs, etc)
