Analytics Engineering at Marshmallow

Data holds the secret code that unlocks the path ahead in our mission. That’s why data teams at Marshmallow are crucial in helping us to create technological solutions that make migration easy for hundreds of millions of global relocators every year.

Insightful. Strategic. Rigorous. A true team-player. Always ready to improve. We look for talent who’ll use their technical brilliance to build credibility across the business and make real commercial and world impact with every choice.

That’s why we provide a supportive environment full of trust and autonomy. So you can take ownership of high-leverage work, in a top functioning team that’s always moving forward.

What You’ll Be Doing

Build the Next-Generation Data Foundation
  • Multi-Product Data Modelling: Design and own scalable, modular, high-performing data models that enable cross-product analytics and seamless growth into new product lines.

  • Strategic Data Architecture: Set and enforce standards for how we structure, govern, and deliver data across insurance, payments, loyalty, car finance, and more — ensuring agility without sacrificing quality.

Drive Platform & Culture Transformation
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, Fraud, Claims, Retention, and Growth teams to align our data capabilities to business priorities and unlock faster innovation cycles.

  • Data Platform Champion: Own the evolution of our Data Platform (Snowflake, DBT, Looker) — from optimising query performance and cost, to leading the rollout of self-service capabilities and observability tools.

Raise the Bar on Data Excellence
  • Mentor and Uplift: Lead a growing community of data engineers, analytics engineers, and analysts, setting technical best practices, coaching on modelling excellence, and embedding a strong culture of quality, governance, and autonomy.

  • Data Product Thinking: Treat curated datasets, transformation pipelines, and governance frameworks as products, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and high business value.

Solve Hard, Impactful Problems
  • Tackle Complexity at Scale: Build solutions that can handle growing data volumes and a rapidly expanding product suite, while staying ahead of industry trends in analytics engineering.

  • Innovation Focus: Drive initiatives around automation, advanced metadata management, real-time pipelines, and unlocking ML-ready datasets to accelerate Marshmallow’s ambition to be a top-decile data-driven business.

Who You Are
  • Deep Technical Expertise: Strong track record in data modelling, production ETLs, and building enterprise-grade data platforms. Advanced SQL proficiency with hands-on experience across Snowflake, DBT, Looker.

  • Architect Mindset: You design systems that are modular, documented, and scalable. You understand trade-offs between speed, quality, and operational simplicity.

  • Collaborative Leader: Experienced at leading cross-functional projects, setting data standards, and coaching others to elevate technical maturity across analytics and engineering teams.

  • Builder at Heart: Comfortable rolling up your sleeves to code, model, and optimise — not just direct others.

  • Bonus Points: Experience with orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect), Python, AWS ecosystem, and exposure to insurance, fintech, or regulated industries.

  • Strategic Thinker: You thrive on aligning technical roadmaps with business goals, and you naturally think about building for a multi-product, scalable future.

Perks of the job
  • Flexible working: Spend a couple of days a week with your team in our new collaborative London office, and own your own working hours. The rest is up to you 🏠
*If this arrangement doesn’t work, don’t let it hold you back. We’re always open to making reasonable adjustments if this is a barrier to you in any way. Let us know and we’ll talk about our options.

  • Competitive bonus scheme - designed to reward and recognise high performance 🌟

  • Flexible benefits budget - £50 per month to spend on a Ben Mastercard meaning you get your own benefits budget to spend on things you want. Whether that’s subscriptions, night classes (puppy yoga, anyone?), the big shop or a forest of houseplants. Pretty much anything goes 💰
