The intern will spend 6 months to participate in all stages of the system’s development, from data ingestion and parsing through knowledge graph construction and query interface design, integrating machine learning and LLM-based reasoning techniques. They will explore and prototype advanced architectures that move beyond basic retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), leveraging hybrid methods such as multi-agent collaboration, embedding alignment, and structured reasoning over multimodal data. This is a hands-on research and development project where the intern will not only apply but also expand their technical expertise in cutting-edge AI.
Key Responsibilities
- The AI Data Analysis Network (AIDAN) is an ambitious initiative to design an AI-driven system capable of understanding and reasoning across heterogeneous clinical data modalities — including structured datasets (SDTM/ADaM), PDFs, RTF tables, and other unstructured sources.
- The project addresses one of the central barriers to automation in clinical data science: the lack of a unified framework that can interpret information across multiple data types and sources. AIDAN aims to overcome this by developing an intelligent ingestion and knowledge representation pipeline, coupled with a graph-based repository of contextualized knowledge that supports semantic querying and cross-study exploration.
Skills, knowledge, and experience
Minimum Requirements:
- MSc candidate (or above) in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Strong proficiency in Python programming, with demonstrated experience in machine learning and large language models (LLMs).
- Knowledge of data ingestion, knowledge graphs, and data transformation pipelines is advantageous.
- Familiarity with DevOps, cloud-based environments, and software engineering best practices will be beneficial.
If you come across a role that intrigues you but doesn’t perfectly line up with your resume, we encourage you to apply anyway. You could be one step away from work that will transform your life and career.

For these roles, onsite presence is considered an essential job function and is critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, and a positive Company culture. For field-based and remote-by-design roles the ability to physically travel to visit customers, patients or business partners and to attend meetings on behalf of BMS as directed is an essential job function.
