The role

The Program Manager role offers an outstanding chance to lead and promote innovation in Lonza's R&D department. Located in Slough, UK, you will coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure the flawless and timely completion of our exceptional projects. Your responsibilities include driving project development and implementation, achieving breakthroughs, and maintaining project goals and budgets.

This role is best suited for someone with a scientific background/experience that is wanting to diversify into leading and managing multiple projects!

Key responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Project Leads to develop, manage, and determine project scope, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring that risks are understood and mitigated.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project information and statuses by consulting with Project Leads and conducting regular team meetings, which you will chair.

  • Prioritise and manage multiple ambitious work packages with overlapping deadlines, ensuring that all projects are completed successfully.

  • Support and motivate multi-disciplinary project teams, ensuring that team members are accountable and informed of any interlinked projects.

  • Facilitate regular team meetings, both internally and with collaborative partners, to ensure that work is performed according to the project plan.

  • Collaborate closely with project leads and senior management to acquire necessary resources and capacity commitments, reaching agreements with all relevant collaborators.

  • Be the representative for innovation projects in the Lonza Network. Advocate for projects and ensure they receive the necessary attention and resources to compete globally.

Key requirements:

  • BSc in Biology/Biotechnology or equivalent experience in a related field.

  • Previous project management experience

  • Proven experience in collaborator management, ideally within a project team setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, both internally and externally.

  • A quick learner, capable of growing in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and adapting to changes in timelines and priorities.

  • Solid understanding of Project Management theory and tools, with a proven track record of successful implementation.
