The Role

Job Overview

We are looking for a Commercial qualified pensions lawyer to join our London Pensions team which sits within our wider Tax, Pensions & Employment Practice. We are interested in hearing from you if you have post-qualification experience within a recognised Pensions practice in a law firm and are looking to further your career by moving to a Firm which can offer you an exceptional client base.

Our pensions practice is among the market leaders in the provision of pensions legal advice and our experience and international capability enables us to advise efficiently and effectively on issues arising in the changing pensions climate. We advise on all aspects of UK pensions law and regulation, covering complex advisory mandates for employers and trustees; pensions risk transfer transactions; UK and international corporate and financing transactions and pensions litigation.

Our clients include not only employers and trustees but also insurers, investment managers and pension product providers.

Who you will work with

You will be part of a close-knit team of UK pensions lawyers, supported by a pensions PSL and information officer. We sit and work closely with our employment, incentives and tax colleagues.

Our UK pensions team operates as part of a broader network of lawyers across Europe, US and Asia, who work with our clients to deal with the complex pensions issues they face – and of course is fully integrated within an elite international law firm You will regularly deal with experts from other practice areas and offices.

What you will be responsible for

You will be responsible for working with a diverse client base, both domestic and international, comprising pension trustees, industrial and commercial corporations, public companies, financial institutions, insurance companies, private equity houses and fund managers. This broad client base gives us a level of experience in areas which many of our competitors cannot match.

Qualifications

Your Experience

Relevant post qualification experience to join our highly regarded London team. You will have worked at one of the recognised Pensions practices in a law firm.

Strong academic history, legal skills and reputation amongst existing clients is important. Equally as important is enthusiasm, commerciality and a real desire to help develop our team further.

To provide outstanding client service, we need to understand, anticipate and fulfil the unique needs and expectations of each client. We call this "Client Focus" and to help deliver this core part of our business strategy, we want to recruit lawyers who not only have the very highest level of technical skills but who:

  • can demonstrate a keen interest and enthusiasm to learn about our clients' business;
  • can work in teams, sharing knowledge and motivating and coaching their juniors and contributing to overall success;
  • are empathetic, responsive and reliable;
  • are commercial and innovative in the solutions they deliver to clients;
  •  are good at fostering relationships with clients.
