In your role as Legal Counsel (Integrity) for ABB’s Motion Business Area (“MO”), you will be part of the MO Legal & Integrity team (“MO L&I team”) servicing all six Divisions of MO. You will work closely with the ABB Due Diligence Team – a global team which supports ABB’s business areas on various third-party matters, along with other members of the global MO L&I team. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert on Mergers & Acquisitions activity, third party engagements, Conflicts of Interest and other day-to-day business activities, and provide ad-hoc counsel to support MO L&I colleagues and our MO ventures business.
This role is open globally, but preferred locations are set in one of our ABB Motion key locations in United Kingdom, Finland, Netherlands, Spain, Italy or Poland. The work model is hybrid #LI-hybrid

Key responsibilities

  • Member of the MO L&I team supporting the Global Integrity Program in MO

  • Review and resolve escalations related to bribery and corruption and anti-trust risks from the third-party due diligence screening process.

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for employee and candidate Conflict of Interest disclosures

  • Support monitoring, testing and certification activities for continuous improvement of the program

  • Perform expert Integrity related due diligence and post-close oversight for acquisitions and minority investments, working closely with Division L&I colleagues and Group / Business Area M&A teams

  • Act as primary counsel to the MO Ventures organization

  • Conduct periodic training and awareness sessions on key hallmarks of the Global Integrity Program

  • Establish strong working partnerships with MO L&I colleagues and persons in other key functions, including Human Resources, Procure to Pay, Order to Cash, Supply Chain Management and Sales

Qualifications for the role

  • Law degree from a tertiary level law school (Bar/practitioner admission viewed favorably)

  • 0–4 years’ PQE or equivalent experience in in-house legal/compliance or a law firm; exposure to multi-jurisdictional work in a global setting.

  • Foundational knowledge in key regulatory areas of anti-bribery & corruption, antitrust, trade compliance, sanctions, and conflicts of interest.

  • Strong communicator and ability to convey business-centric advice to inform and enable agile decision making.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, presenting solutions to overcome barriers to execution.

  • Native or professional proficiency in English; additional European language(s) an advantage.

  • Collaborative working style with attention to detail, with a willingness to work flexible hours when needed across time zones.
