About Us

At Encord, we're building the AI infrastructure of the future. The biggest challenge AI companies face today is not half as glamorous as the outside world may think: it's all about data quality. In fact, the success of any AI application today relies on the quality of a model's training data — and for 95% of teams, this essential step is both the most costly, and the most time-consuming, in getting their product to market.

As ex-computer scientists, physicists, and quants, we felt first-hand how the lack of tools to prepare quality training data was impeding the progress of building AI. AI today is what the early days of computing or the internet were like, where the potential of the technology is clear, but the tools and processes surrounding it are still primitive, preventing the next generation of applications. This is why we started Encord.

We are a talented and ambitious team of 75+, working at the cutting edge of computer vision and deep learning, backed by top investors, including CRV and Y Combinator, leading industry executives like Luc Vincent, former VP of AI at Meta, and other top Bay Area leaders in AI. We are one the fastest growing companies in our space, and consistently rated as the best tool in the market by our customers.

The Role

As a Junior Human Data Operations Strategist, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing data annotation and machine learning workflows for our clients. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including clients, annotation specialists, and machine learning engineers, to ensure high-quality data is available for AI models. This role is perfect for individuals with a passion for AI, data operations, and solving real-world problems.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership – Oversee data annotation projects, translating complex AI and machine learning requirements into clear workflows and instructions for data annotation teams.
  • Data Quality Optimization – Ensure the highest standards of data quality by designing and refining annotation processes, auditing results, and implementing feedback loops.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement – Act as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them design and implement the best data annotation workflow for their human annotation process.
  • Annotators Training & Coaching– Provide guidance and feedback to the annotation team, ensuring team members are equipped with the context and skills needed to perform high-quality work aligned with project requirements and best practices.
  • Product Innovation – Work closely with product and engineering teams to drive improvements in AI training data processes, tools, and methodologies.

About you:

  • You just graduated from a postgraduate degree at an outstanding university, or you have 1+ year work experiences after attaining your undergraduate degree.
  • You are a problem solver with a strong analytical mindset and an entrepreneurial approach to managing projects.
  • You have experience in project management, data operations, or AI-related workflows (previous experience in PMO roles is a plus).
  • You are proficient in scripting languages like Python, SQL, or familiarity with relational databases and data annotation tools.
  • You are passionate in AI and machine learning, with experience in computer vision or generative AI being a strong plus.
  • You thrive in fast-paced environments and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovative solutions.
  • You have communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear action plans.
