We have been awarded a multi-year contract to deliver MEPHFC (Mechanical, Electrical Public Health, Fire and Communications) systems works.

We are looking for a Junior Electrical Engineer to join our growing team and support the design and delivery of electrical systems for this major infrastructure project. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer to develop professionally while working on high-profile, complex engineering projects.

Job Description

As a Junior Electrical Engineer, you will assist the electrical design team in developing, coordinating, and reviewing electrical system designs and documentation. You will gain hands-on experience working on electrical systems such as lighting, small power, cable containment, and low-voltage (LV) power distribution.

This role offers a great opportunity to learn from experienced engineers, work within a multi-disciplinary team, and contribute to real-world engineering solutions on a nationally significant transport hub.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the production of electrical design layouts, mark-ups, schedules, and calculations under guidance.
  • Assist with drafting technical specifications and reviewing supplier documentation.
  • Contribute to the coordination of electrical services with other engineering disciplines.
  • Use engineering software tools (e.g., Dialux, Amtech) to support design tasks.
  • Attend internal team meetings and contribute to design discussions and coordination efforts.
  • Support the review and integration of information from suppliers and contractors.
  • Help maintain documentation, records, and project files in line with project standards.
  • Learn about industry standards and codes relevant to electrical systems in infrastructure.
  • Engage in site visits or inspections (as required) to better understand practical implementation.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline.
  • A basic understanding of electrical building services systems.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Dialux or Relux (training can be provided).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning and development.

Desirable:

  • Internship or placement experience in an engineering design environment.
  • Awareness of British Standards and electrical regulations (e.g., BS 7671).
  • Exposure to BIM workflows and multidisciplinary coordination.
