PORTWEST, a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE is currently seeking applications for the position of Junior E-Commerce and Marketplace Specialist on a full time basis reporting to the Head of E-Commerce. Founded in 1904, Portwest has become one of the fastest growing workwear companies in the world currently employing over 5,100 staff worldwide. JOB SUMMARY:

Our eCommerce & Marketplaces team plays a central role in this transformation. This role will work closely with experienced eCommerce and Marketplace Managers, supporting trading, operational and performance activity across large, complex marketplaces in an international environment.

We are seeking a Junior eCommerce and Marketplace Specialist to support the growth and optimisation of our global marketplace portfolio, including Amazon Vendor/Seller, eBay, Walmart, DIY.com and other international platforms.

Reporting to the Head of eCommerce & Marketplaces and working day-to-day with experienced Marketplace Managers, you will support marketplace trading plans, promotions, reporting, and operational execution across multiple regions. This role focuses on marketplace operations, performance, data and optimisation rather than content creation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support day-to-day marketplace operations across Amazon Vendor/Seller Central and other platforms

  • Assist with onboarding, maintaining and optimising a large SKU catalogue, ensuring listings are accurate, compliant and live
  • Support marketplace advertising activity (e.g. Amazon Advertising) through reporting, keyword analysis, budget updates and campaign checks
  • Use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini and internal AI Agents to support reporting, analysis and repetitive operational tasks
  • Monitor stock availability, suppressed or inactive listings, delivery performance, chargebacks and operational KPIs
  • Monitor competitor activity and 3P sellers on Amazon, including pricing compliance, Buy Box ownership and brand protection escalations

Marketplace Operations & Trading Support

  • Support execution of trading plans, promotions, deals and seasonal activity as briefed by Ecommerce & Marketplace Managers
  • Support the sharing of marketplace insights such as operational issues, performance trends and competitor activity
  • Assist with basic paid search optimisation tasks under guidance, including search term analysis and bid adjustments
  • Stay informed on marketplace trends, tools and best practices relevant to trading and operations
  • Carry out routine checks on pricing, listings, promotions and availability, escalating issues where required

AI & Automation Enablement

  • Follow best-practice guidelines for responsible and accurate use of AI tools
  • Identify manual or repetitive tasks and suggest opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements
  • Support A/B testing activity and simple experiments, capturing results and insights

 Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Assist Marketplace Managers with preparation of materials for internal reviews and meetings
  • Build ownership of defined tasks, SKUs, categories or mini projects over time
  • Take part in structured onboarding and training across Portwest systems, marketplaces and AI tools

Performance, Data & Reporting

  • Run regular marketplace reports covering sales, traffic, conversion, inventory health and returns
  • Support weekly and monthly performance reporting for internal stakeholders
  • Track core KPIs such as sales, margin, Buy Box, stock availability and promotional performance
  • Maintain documentation of processes, reports and learnings
  • Help identify trends, risks and opportunities within marketplace data

Progression

This role is designed as a development pathway into a more advanced, senior eCommerce or Marketplace roles, with increasing responsibility for sales, platforms, categories or projects as experience grows.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-3 years of experience in eCommerce, digital marketplaces, online trading or a related operational/commercial role
  • Experience with Amazon Vendor and/or Seller Central in a trading or operational capacity
  • Exposure to marketplace advertising platforms (e.g. Amazon Advertising)
  • Familiarity with inventory, order or product data systems (e.g. Linnworks, Akeneo, Bynder)
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing large product catalogues
  • Comfortable working with data in Excel or Google Sheets and interpreting performance reports
  • Experience working with multi-region or international marketplaces
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using AI tools to support analysis, reporting or operational workflows
