Overview

Reporting to the Commercial Features Editorial Director, The Business of Fashion is seeking a Junior Commercial Writer to join its Content Strategy team. Working across every element of BoF, the content strategy team drives the creative concepts and execution of a variety of commercial partnerships, long-form written reports, multimedia projects, editorial franchises and global events. 

The team is also responsible for the content strategy and output that supports the BoF Careers platform, driving brand awareness and applications, as well as community events and content engagement for our global BoF Careers partners.

What we need you to do:

The Commercial Writer role is an opportunity to produce compelling content, conduct interviews with leading industry executives, and write editorial content supporting our careers output. The individual will also play a critical supporting role on long-form reports, partnership integration of BoF’s global flagship events and content strategies to achieve business goals. 

The successful candidate will play a significant role in: 

  • Conduct interviews and write regular features across partner and careers content 
  • Copy-edit features to ensure they are of an excellent standard and adhere to BoF tone of voice
  • Assist in the ideation of content strategies, articles and events for brand partnerships
  • Be responsible for article production, image sourcing and formatting
  • Support on and deliver partner and community events  
  • Support the team with briefings and presentations

Who you are:

You are a junior writer with a few bylines under your belt. You are a detail-oriented wordsmith, with an ability to marry data analysis with a strong narrative. You are comfortable with interviewing industry executives through to fashion students, and able to extract a compelling narrative from any interviewee. 

You are adaptable to fast-paced deadlines and managing multiple stories at once. You are able to collaborate with different creative and commercial entities across the business to deliver on projects. 

You have an understanding of the commercial operations of the fashion and luxury industries and the market forces that affect them most, including sustainability, technology and consumer behaviour. 

You’ll know you’re successful when…

  • You are handling the creation of written partner content from concept to completion  
  • Articles are published according to our Style Guide, tone of voice, and free of errors
  • Articles are supported by strong, engaging and on-brand visuals
  • You support independent tasks relating to larger projects like community events or multimedia partnerships, such as ideating talent suggestions, topic themes or briefing packs 
  • The ideas you suggest are backed by data and user behaviour
