About the team and the role:
Hard Goods is a focus category at eBay and a key part of the growth plans of the business. We actively work across Electronics and Home & Garden with exciting plans to further grow our business in all areas. The Hard Goods category team will be targeted on growing their focus programmes of refurbished and certified open box.

The role is to help define the Hard Goods trading strategy and implement through working with internal teams. The role will work heavily with Global Seller Development as we implement our trading strategy with their managed sellers.
As a Junior Category Manager, you will be accountable for the success of your category and encouraged to independently lead and run multiple subcategories of the business.

What you will accomplish:

  • Develop and implement annual category plans for key categories

  • Lead internal negotiations to establish special pricing parameters in alignment with category plans.

  • Handle strategic investments and expenses budget to optimize category performance.

  • Provide actions plans on Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) and Buyer Behaviour 

  • Evaluation (BBE) analysis for focus categories

  • Collaborate with horizontal trading and marketing teams to lead trade planning and incentive strategies.

  • Analyse weekly and monthly performance drivers, recommending actions to Horizontal Trading and Account Management teams.

  • Innovate and develop new strategies to improve category performance

  • Supervise live inventory competitiveness and availability and use data to conduct range and gap analysis.

  • Develop onboarding strategies for sellers to participate in focus category programs, including Refurbished and Certified Open Box initiatives.

  • Build and maintain relationships with Business Development, including creating target lists, tracking leads, and providing focus category briefs.

What you will bring:

  • Shown experience with growing responsibility as a business owner in an online retail or marketplace environment. Merchandising experience valued.

  • Experienced at negotiating win-win outcomes with third parties in sophisticated negotiations.

  • Execution-driven, growth-oriented, ownership mindset to drive performance against KPIs.

  • Ability to lead with authority and optimally handle cross-functional coordination in a collaborative and team-driven environment.

  • Experience influencing and negotiating with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required.

  • Project management and problem-solving skills

  • Presentation skills with experience in influencing groups with your message.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in large or small group settings.
