Job Description

As a Junior Buyer on menswear you will support in executing the product development, having a clear understanding of COS aesthetics and of our customer needs. With a clear and efficient component and product development you contribute to meaningful growth and profitability within the knitwear & jersey department. You will support in developing the best assortment for our target customer. You work in collaboration with the Buying, Pattern and Design team, the Product team, Material team and the Supply Chain team.

What you will do:

  • Support in executing an efficient component and product development strategy, ensuring alignment with purpose, profitability, and sustainability goals.
  • Support planning, analysis, and timely execution of product development in line with department strategy and omni-channel timelines.
  • Collaborate with Buyers, Designers, and Controllers to align on pricing, value drivers (price, material, look), and budget targets.
  • Have a clear understanding of the customers' needs and a customer focus in the product development .
  • Contribute to assortment planning and development of components and colours that reflect the department’s visual and strategic direction.
  • Ensure accurate component bookings and communicate sample yardage needs to the Supply Chain team.
  • Promote sustainable material and component choices across all relevant products.
  • Stay informed on market trends and customer insights, sharing findings with the team to guide product decisions.
  • Inspire and support Assistant Buyers, encouraging confidence and professional growth.
  • Foster strong collaboration across Buying, Design, Pattern, Production, and Supply Chain teams to ensure efficient workflows and goal alignment.
  • Take initiative in learning and continuously seek ways to improve processes and outcomes.

In addition to our values for this role we are also looking for:

  • Previous experience as a Junior Buyer in menswear, with full ownership of a product category (preferably jersey or knitwear)
  • Experience working with an inhouse design team with strong knowledge of materials & the product development process  
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs and market trends with a menswear focus
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills, proficiency in Microsoft 360 package & working with PLM 
  • Strong team player with great communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams
  • Genuine passion for the COS brand, sustainability and delivering relevant products for the menswear customer
  • Excellent organisational skills, ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines.
  • Good understanding of external trends and competitor activity.
