Japanese Localization Specialist

At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for speed and scale, and our global reach means language, culture and local experience matter. We’re looking for a Japanese Localization Quality Specialist to own and drive the quality of our Japanese content across product, marketing, and customer-facing materials. In this role, you’ll safeguard the voice of Adyen in Japanese and ensure that every experience we deliver is linguistically and culturally authentic.

What you’ll do
  • Own Japanese linguistic quality: Manage the quality program for all Japanese content, particularly technical documentation and in-product UI copy, by reviewing translation output against Adyen’s standards.
  • Develop Japanese language assets: Create, maintain, and evolve Japanese style guides, glossaries, and other resources to scale high-quality content.
  • Collaborate across teams: Work closely with Product, Marketing, Support, and other in-market teams to define the right localization approach and ensure local success of campaigns, launches, and communications.
  • Manage vendor linguists: Oversee external resources, providing guidance, feedback, and coordination for market-specific initiatives.
  • Be the go-to expert: Address linguistic queries, provide cultural insights, and advocate for Japanese customers within Adyen’s global teams.
  • Drive improvements: Use data and stakeholder feedback to continuously refine processes, localization quality programs, and operational efficiency.
Who you are
  • Native speaker of Japanese, with excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in localization, ideally in a SaaS or Technology environment.
  • Skilled at writing, editing, and reviewing Japanese content with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in product and technical documentation content is required, marketing content experience is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of Japanese culture, communication styles, and user expectations, with the ability to convey Adyen’s brand authentically.
  • Comfortable explaining linguistic and cultural nuances to non-linguists across different teams.
  • Experienced with TMS platforms (e.g. Smartling), machine translation, AI and QA workflows.
  • A strong communicator and team player, able to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Flexible, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
