PeopleCert is looking for an experienced Subject Matter Expert to work within the Product Development team to help develop content that supports our mission to elevate our ITIL brand and portfolio. You will work closely with our Product Architects, aligning with the vision to ensure ITIL remains the most widely adopted framework in Service Management globally. As an in-house Subject Matter Expert, you will contribute to the delivery of the product roadmap and help develop a range of ITIL content within a collaborative, cross-functional team.

As an ITIL Subject Matter Expert your tasks will include the following:

Content Creation & Product Alignment:
◦ Contribute to the creation, review, and maintenance of ITIL Official Books, Exams, Official Training Materials, and Digital Content, ensuring all materials align with product and technical specifications and meet evolving market demands.
◦ Ensure that content is kept up to date and relevant based on customer feedback, market insight and product strategy.
◦ Ensure consistency, accuracy and quality across all ITIL content types.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
◦ Partner with Product Management and Product Marketing, to drive the global success of ITIL, ensuring that Product Development content goals and timelines are met.
◦ Collaborate closely with the Product Architects and Product Managers to ensure that all ITIL content aligns with the overall product strategy and vision, and that content creation, review and maintenance is prioritised and delivered according to the agreed roadmap.

Sharing expertise:
◦ Act as an internal Subject Matter Expert to support the broader organization, including internal trainings and webinars as required, helping internal teams have a deep understanding of ITIL and its strategic importance to PeopleCert.
◦ Conference participation and external presentation delivery may also be required.

External SMEs:
◦ Collaborate with the Product Architects and other internal teams to help identify, onboard and manage a comprehensive database of external Subject Matter Experts to strengthen our pool of ITIL content contributors.

What we look for:

  • 5+ years’ relevant experience working with ITIL in a training or consultancy role  
  • Be certified with as many as possible ITIL certifications  
  • Be certified with as many as possible related certifications from the PeopleCert portolio, and/or other providers (e.g. in Project, Programme and Portfolio Management, SCRUM, Agile, Change Management, Service Management, DevOps) 
  • Solid understanding of the ITIL ecosystem and competition landscape 
  • Experience in product development 
  • Experience in authoring, reviewing and editing content 
  • Experience in collaborating with Subject Matter Experts 
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills  
  • Excellent writing and project management skills  
  • Native or excellent command of the English language (C2 level certification is required, LanguageCert C2 LTE or C2 IESOL certificate would be a plus)
  • Advanced computer literacy is required. ECDL Advanced level certification is desirable

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared.

If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include:

  • A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality, identity and place of residence)
  • HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter Terrorist Check (CTC)
  • Financial background check
  • Employment reference check.
  • If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK.

In addition, if personnel are required to speak to SELT candidates they must be appropriately skilled in the English language and, where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK), the official language of the relevant country.
