We are Indeed Flex. We Help People Get Jobs. Right now, we’re hiring!
The current staffing model is broken, with low wages and limited opportunities. As flexible work continues to grow, we’re taking a radically different approach: providing job seekers with control, ownership and choice, so employees can find the working patterns and scenarios to suit their lifestyles. In doing so, we aim to revolutionise the industry.
After demonstrating our approach throughout the UK under the Syft brand, we were acquired by Indeed.com in 2019 and we rebranded to Indeed Flex in 2020. With continued independence and phenomenal levels of support we’ve been able to accelerate our mission as we expand throughout the US as well as the UK. Fast growth creates tremendous opportunities - come and join a team of inquisitive, passionate, and driven individuals helping each other grow and building something meaningful!
Main Purpose
We're looking for a hands-on, strategic IT Manager to take ownership of our technology infrastructure to support our growing business needs. Forget the standard "keeping the lights on" routine—you will lead the strategic planning, security, and optimisation of our core IT systems. In this role, you will balance big-picture strategy with day-to-day execution: managing a dedicated team, safeguarding our electronic data, and partnering with departments across the business to deliver customised, high-impact technical solutions.
This is an in-office role, five days per week with the option to work from home on Thursdays. We are based at Indeed's London office in Farringdon.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Strategic IT Planning: Develop and implement the company's IT strategy in alignment with business objectives, including infrastructure upgrades, software deployments, and security enhancements.
- System Administration: Manage and maintain operating systems, applications, and security tools, ensuring optimal performance, stability, and security.
- IT Support & Helpdesk Management: Oversee the provision of efficient and effective IT support to all employees, managing the helpdesk function and ensuring timely resolution of technical issues. Provide cover and be an escalation point for the service team.
- Data Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures to protect company data and systems from threats and ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR).
- Vendor & Procurement Management: Serve as the primary orchestration point for the end-to-end vendor procurement process. You will bridge the gap between technical stakeholders, vendors, and corporate procurement specialists from the parent company to ensure high-value contracts meet rigorous compliance and budgetary standards. This includes evaluating vendor performance and functionality to consolidate the ecosystem in the best interest of the business.
- Technology Evaluation: Research and evaluate new technologies and solutions to improve efficiency, security, and business capabilities. Conduct rigorous functional and technical evaluations of vendors against the existing technology stack to identify overlaps, gaps, and opportunities for modernisation and consolidation.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient allocation of resources.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, configurations, and procedures. Generate regular reports on IT performance, security, and budget.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a small IT team (if applicable), fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Project Management: Lead and manage IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required specifications.
- Operational Experience: The IT Manager must have extensive experience in IT operations or IT department supervisory experience. A strong candidate would have knowledge of Google, Microsoft, Apple, and service desk management tools.
- Complex Project Coordination: Exceptional organisational skills to manage the "flow" of information between technical teams and specialists, ensuring no bottlenecks occur during the vendor process.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to influence and build consensus across diverse departments (Finance, Legal, IT, and Operations) with competing priorities.
- Problem Solving: A proven record of problem-solving and project management skills is usually appreciated. Professional experience in automating manual tasks, SLO/SLA Implementation, and improving reliability with process automation, QA testing, and enterprise platform administration.
- Leadership: Extensive experience in a management position (e.g., manager, team lead, or architect) responsible for managing a team of software, SRE, or DevOps engineers in support of an Agile production environment.
- Professional experience with Application Performance Monitoring tools and cross-platform integrations.
- Tenacity to drive issues to conclusions and develop sustainable and scalable solutions.
- Ability to multitask and effectively function in an interrupt-driven and high-visibility environment.
- Effective communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.
- £40,000 to £55,000 salary per annum

- Cycle to work scheme
