We're seeking an experienced Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of our corporate IT environment and ensure our internal systems deliver the reliability, security, and performance our team needs to support our customers' critical workloads.

 

This is a hands-on role requiring technical depth across productivity suite, networking, security, and systems administration. You'll be the go-to expert for our corporate infrastructure, working both independently and collaboratively to maintain and evolve our IT estate.

 

The role will require regular on-site presence near Manchester, Chesterfield and our London HQ, with flexibility for hybrid working once established.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Core Business Productivity Applications & Cloud Services:

  • Design, configure, administer and monitor our M365 environment and business productivity applications.
  • Implement and maintain security policies in our firewall and security tools, including antivirus, endpoint protection, security baselines and hardening standards.
  • Optimise collaboration tools and workflows to support our growing team.

 

End User Support & Desktop Services:

  • Provide responsive desktop support for general end user compute issues.
  • Manage cloud backup solutions ensuring data protection and recovery capabilities.
  • Administer AI productivity and meeting tools.
  • Maintain high standards of user experience and quick resolution of technical issues.

 

Asset & Licence Management:

  • Maintain comprehensive asset register for all IT equipment and software.
  • Manage software licensing compliance and optimisation across the organisation.
  • Plan and execute hardware refresh cycles and procurement.

 

Networking & Infrastructure:

  • Configure, administer and monitor enterprise network infrastructure including, firewalls, switches, wireless access points and VPNs.
  • Manage domain services, DNS, and office network connectivity.
  • Ensure robust, secure connectivity across our UK sites.
  • Work with on premise data centre infrastructure as required.

 

Systems Administration:

  • Administer Active Directory/domain services.
  • Oversee server infrastructure, identity access systems, and secure remote access solutions.
  • Implement and maintain IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and tools.
  • Document systems, procedures and configurations.

 

Supplier & Vendor Management:

  • Manage relationships with ISPs, mobile phone providers and IT equipment suppliers.
  • Procure hardware and services, managing budgets and contracts.
  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve issues and optimise service delivery.

 

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience managing Microsoft 365 environments in a corporate setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune, Teams and SharePoint administration.
  • Demonstrable experience with network infrastructure including firewalls, VPNs and routing.
  • Solid understanding of security principles and experience implementing security controls.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code or automation tools.
  • Track record of effective supplier and vendor management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to be based on-site near Manchester or Chesterfield (or nearby).

 

One or more would be an advantage:

  • Microsoft certifications (MS-102, AZ-104, MS-500 or similar).
  • Experience in technology or data centre environments.
  • Familiarity with ITSM frameworks (ITIL).
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Understanding of compliance frameworks relevant to regulated industries.
