About the role

The mission of the IT organization is to deliver an efficient and effective service that has scalability and flexibility to support the demands of the business, building strategic capabilities, enabling transformational efforts, and embedding quality in all systems and processes. You will be part of the applications team responsible for providing support and improving the organization's IT applications, aligning with this overarching IT mission. Your role involves ensuring IT applications are optimized, up-to-date, and meeting business needs through support, enhancements, and contributing to the development of the broader applications architecture and strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on applications to maximize value.

  • Provide second-line application support for live locations.

  • Propose potential service improvements.

  • Document solutions and train service desk for first-line resolution.

  • Ensure application services align with IT SLAs.

  • Develop end-user guidelines.

  • Undertake projects per requirements and IT architecture standards.

  • Ensure new solutions meet needs and transition smoothly to operations.

  • Contribute to evolving IT applications architecture.

  • Understand requirements and drive quality application design.

  • Manage full software system lifecycle.

  • Design, test, implement, maintain and support applications on time/budget.

  • For outsourced support, ensure third-party solutions meet DS Smith standards.

  • Understand business strategy and future direction.

  • Maintain knowledge of DS Smith applications and technical infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with third-party application providers when needed.

About you

  • Strong IT background and technical knowledge.

  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with mixed in-house and outsourced application models.

  • Knowledge of business applications/ERP solutions.

  • Experience in process documentation and definition.

  • Ability to understand operations, document workflows, perform gap analysis, and define IT requirements.

  • Good grasp of IT processes like application support and change management.

  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure supporting applications.
