Be part of our dynamic consumer tribe, a dedicated team within SumUp operating with the agility of a startup. We're focused on creating impactful products that transform transactions into seamless, engaging, and valuable interactions, ultimately enhancing consumers' financial lives. As a key member, you'll have significant ownership in shaping our processes, tackling complex challenges, and defining the future of our team and product vision.

As  iOS Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of building and evolving our consumer-facing mobile app, delivering innovative financial services across Europe and beyond. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping how our consumers interact with our expanding merchant ecosystem, ensuring a seamless and intuitive experience.

 What you’ll do

  • You’ll be building our consumer mobile app, providing financial services to consumers in Europe and beyond. 
  • You’ll shape how our consumers interact with our growing consumer merchant ecosystem.
  • In the first few weeks, you'll dive into the code and learn how to create clean components in our codebase. You'll use this knowledge to start developing and refining features.
  • In the first three months, you'll develop major features that impact our consumer base. You'll work closely with product and design departments to build features that are maintainable, usable and beautiful. You'll help us rethink problems we've solved before differently as needs evolve.
  • By the end of your first year, you'll have a wealth of knowledge about our complex problem domain, as well as its implications in the interface and in the backend, and how to manage it in a clean way. 
  • Working closely with other mobile engineers on setting up and implementing best engineering practices for iOS across the company.

You’ll be great for this position if

  • Proven expertise in Swift and the iOS SDK, with a solid understanding of its core principles and best practices. Familiarity with Objective-C is a plus.
  • Strong passion for crafting intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces, with a keen eye for detail.
  • A commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, balanced with the pragmatism to deliver effectively under pressure.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, capable of understanding complex challenges, designing robust solutions, breaking them down into actionable steps, and delivering results.
  • User-centric approach to software engineering, prioritizing the end-user experience and advocating for their needs.
  • Proven experience working with Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and Pair Programming
  • A proactive and resourceful mindset, comfortable leveraging available resources (including documentation and seeking assistance) to overcome technical challenges
  • An eagerness to explore and utilse AI-powered tools to enhance development workflows
