We’re seeking an Investment Summer Associate to join M13 for the summer at our NYC office and help M13 source and evaluate the next generation of AI-native founders emerging from leading Northeastern universities such as Columbia, MIT, Harvard, and beyond. This internship is ideal for rising undergraduate juniors or seniors.
Entrepreneurs are building earlier and younger than ever before. This internship sits directly within the Investment Team and focuses on expanding our access to technical builders at the forefront of AI and emerging technologies. You’ll help us identify exceptional people and companies early, support diligence on frontier AI ideas, and contribute to shaping M13’s perspective on next-generation technology shifts.
What You’ll Be DoingWork closely with the Investment Team to source high-potential founders and companies coming out of universities in the northeast
Build relationships with technical students, builders, and entrepreneurial communities
Help us diligence new ideas at the forefront of AI technology
Engage with campus AI clubs, hackathons, and startup ecosystems to expand M13’s early access pipeline
Track and evaluate opportunities aligned with M13’s investment theses
Contribute to developing internal perspectives on emerging AI trends and generational technology shifts
This role blends community-building, sourcing strategy, and early-stage investment exposure.
Key DeliverablesThis internship’s core project centers on designing and executing a high-impact campus initiative, such as a hackathon, pitch day, AI-builder event, or something similar that strengthens M13’s presence within key university ecosystems.
The goal is not just to host an event. The objective is to:
Design and execute a founder-focused campus event aligned with M13’s investment themes
Engage university entrepreneurial communities, AI clubs, and technical networks
Track and evaluate participants through a sourcing lens
Create a repeatable sourcing framework for early-stage founder discovery
Direct exposure to venture capital sourcing and founder evaluation
Insight into how investment theses translate into pipeline-building
Experience building founder relationships before companies formally raise capital
Understanding of how VCs think about long-term relationship development
Hands-on experience building strategic initiatives and supporting diligence within a venture firm
Close collaboration with experienced early-stage investors
Currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program as a rising junior or senior
Strong interest in venture capital, startups, and entrepreneurship
Technically inclined - this can mean you have a CS background, vibe code in your spare time, or are generally curious about AI and emerging technologies
Social, well-networked, and “in the know”. High EQ is a must
Ability to independently drive a project from concept through execution
Strategic thinking around sourcing and pipeline development
Able to work from our NYC office from Monday, June 15 - Friday, August 14, 2026
Strong networks in NYC or Boston (able to spend the summer in NYC while maintaining strong ties to schools in the Boston area)
