Purpose of this role

The Investment Data Developer will join the Group Investment Office with the objective to enable the successful delivery and analysis of asset data, to meet the needs of investment portfolio oversight and steering. The role-holder will work alongside the Investment Data Engineer and both will be responsible for building the data structure, feeds, analytics and process automation, while partnering with stakeholders across Athora teams to take part in portfolio oversight and risk management and work closely with Apollo’s investment and data analytics teams.

Key Responsibilities & Contribution Areas

  • Collaborate across Athora Group and Apollo with stakeholders including Actuarial, Risk and Investments to understand team needs and translate them into technical specification for the data architecture for structured and unstructured data

  • Support internal and external stakeholders in setting up the data system

  • Define the data feeds needed (market data, report outputs, other) taking into account the needs of stakeholders, and establish these data feeds through necessary workflows

  • In collaboration with Athora’s enterprise architecture team, implement a workflow management tool to capture investment related processes in a robust application with relevant controls and audit trail

  • Develop automated portfolio analysis and reporting for Athora teams based on robust Python analytics delivered through PowerBI or other relevant user interfaces

  • Business partner with Athora teams (e.g. Investments, Risk, or other) on data analyses required as part of portfolio oversight and risk management / monitoring, including one-off analysis related to specific market developments

  • Continuously adapt and evolve the portfolio analysis and reporting toolkit

  • Resilience and composure under pressure, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Highly structured and organised approach to work, with strong discipline in execution and followthrough

Functional or Technical Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Excellent command of Python coding in a production-quality disciplined, controlled environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional team environment

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to decomplexify technical terms to non-technical business teams across Athora

  • Data analysis skills – ability to conduct quantitative data analysis from investment and market data

  • Proficiency with database systems

  • Experience with AI tooling across structured and unstructured data, ideally within the Snowflake or Databricks environments

  • Familiarity with key financial market issues, ideally in credit and interest rates
