The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated apprentice who is interested in working in Financial Services and wishes to pursue a career in Private Markets.
The Private Markets Research (“PMR”) team has the responsibility of monitoring and analysing an investment portfolio of approximately £25Bn across both public and private asset markets. The successful applicant will support a team of 23 credit analysts by taking an active role in data / regulatory analysis, project work and interfacing with various business units.

What will you be doing?
As an Investment Analyst apprentice duties may include:
- Maintenance of data through use of internal systems and Microsoft Excel. This will include setting up financial instruments to trade, projecting cashflows etc.
- Producing periodic holdings reports
- Helping senior analysts analyse datasets to help project future performance trends
- Assisting senior analysts to produce deal overviews in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint
- Helping senior analysts complete in-house Environment, Social and Governance (“ESG”) analysis for transactions
- Supporting senior analysts with new deals, reviews and monitoring of existing investments, primarily using Microsoft Excel
- Helping the team with scheduling workload priorities and organising business requirements
- Helping the team in answering queries on data and outputs
- Providing ad hoc support to the wider team as and when required
- You will also be exposed to a number of different projects and initiatives within the team, with the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge across the different investment sectors (for example, structured credit, private placements, and infrastructure debt)
What will I need to be successful in this role?
- Good and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- High level of accuracy and good attention to detail
- Structured approach to work and very well organised
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Moderate understanding of the MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong numerical skills
- A proactive team player who is confident about working with others but also independently and can promptly escalate any issue and work remotely where required
- Logical and analytical approach coupled with intelligence, passion and a drive to learn
- Ability to formulate own opinions by thinking analytically about problems
- Empathy and good listening skills

Minimum Requirements
- Available to start the apprenticeship programme in September 2025
- You must not be enrolled into another further education programme at the beginning of the programme
- Be a UK citizen or have proof of your right to work in the UK
- Living in England
- Minimum of Grade 4 in GCSE English and Mathematics
- Minimum of Grade C in Three A Levels or equivalent such as BTEC Nationals
Training Provided
As an Investment Analyst Apprentice with M&G, you will undertake the Investment Operations Specialist Level 4 Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning, pre-recorded lectures, and face to face inductions and masterclasses
Future Prospects
This is a fixed term contract for 18 - 23 months upon which the business may decide to retain, subject to the Apprentice performance, headcount, and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role, the individual will follow the career progression applicable to the specific role/department.
Salary
£26,000 per annum plus benefits
