About Us:

The Financial Ombudsman Service is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that plays a vital role in UK financial services. Every day we help resolve disputes between consumers, or small businesses, and their financial service providers.

You’ll create flexible processes that make it easier for people to move where their skills are most needed, build tools that simplify career development, and partner with leaders to understand where mobility can unlock capacity, address capability gaps or support developing talent. Everything you do will help us build an agile, future-ready workforce, one that can respond quickly to changing priorities, use skills more dynamically and grow sustainably from within.

To be considered for this role, you’ll need to show us that you’ve got the skills and capabilities. You’ll have to meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Experience designing and implementing processes or programmes that improve workforce flexibility, mobility or skills utilisation.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse workforce or HR data, with examples of using insights to drive recommendations or decisions.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, including influencing senior leaders or guiding hiring/people decisions.
  • Experience using HR systems such as Workday or similar platforms that support resourcing, talent or workforce planning.

It would also be nice for you to have

  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, including simplifying complex ideas and delivering clear guidance to different audiences.
  • Experience contributing to or delivering change programmes, particularly those linked to people, capability or organisational design.
  • Interest in skills-based workforce planning, talent marketplaces or capability frameworks.
  • Ability to show strong organisational skills, managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • A collaborative approach, with evidence of bringing teams together to solve workforce challenges.
  • Ability to challenge established ways of working and introduce more flexible, efficient approaches.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fairness, transparency and inclusivity in people processes.
  • Adaptability, with examples of thriving in environments where priorities shift or evolve.
