Overall Purpose of Role:

To develop and deliver the internal communications strategy for the LME Group – ensuring that staff feel informed and motivated through effective communications and employee engagement initiatives. In addition, providing support to the wider communications team where needed.  

Responsibilities:

Strategic leadership

  • Supporting the Head of Corporate Communications in developing the internal communications strategy and engagement plan, aligning it to the LME’s business priorities, values and culture.
  • Lead the creation and execution of integrated campaigns that drive engagement, promote leadership visibility and support organisational change.
  • SnapComms tool management, ensuring effective delivery of timely, targeted content.
  • Manage the planning and delivery of the LME’s communications events, both virtually and face to face.
  • Support the internal communication response to crisis situations.
  • Manage the internal communications for new projects and organisational wide announcements and changes.

Content and channel ownership

  • Plan, edit and write content for a number of internal comms mediums, such as iExchange and internal emails, working with the wider communications team.
  • Manage flagship communications initiatives such as:

- Ask Us Anything (live open forum sessions with leadership team members)

- Leadership Lens (monthly blog posts authored by leadership team members)

- What’s Going On? (comprehensive monthly internal update)

- LME Explained podcast series

  • Shape storytelling and internal news narratives that highlight success stories and cultural milestones.
  • Ensure consistency of tone, voice and brand across all internal channels
  • Support creation of marketing material such as posts for LinkedIn or X

Business communications support

  • Act as a strategic communications partner to all business functions, supporting major programmes, IT upgrades and systems transformations, ensuring that all technical updates are translated into accessible, relevant and engaging content for all audiences.
  • Actively participate in the Diversity & Inclusion and Employee Engagement Forums, drafting comms and providing strategic comms counsel.

Cross-function collaboration

  • Collaborate with colleagues in the HKEX Internal Communications team to align Group-wide messaging and campaign opportunities.
  • Partner with HR and senior leadership to support campaigns around culture, diversity, wellbeing and employee engagement.

Measurement and continuous improvement

  • Develop and implement methods to measure the effectiveness of internal communications, Use SnapComms and iExchange insights to refine communications strategies and continuously improve employee engagement.

Qualifications Required:

  • Educated to degree level
  • CIPR qualification (or equivalent) – desirable but not essential

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within internal communications – in financial services or the commodities industry
  • Experience in marketing/brand desired but not essential, with a focus on the creation of branded digital materials and engaging content including for social media, and external events..  
  • Interest in, and good knowledge of, business and financial services
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills in order to work with senior leadership team and different teams and functions across the organisation
  • Creative and strategic ability to devise and execute communications strategies and plans
  • Flexible approach and enthusiastic attitude towards learning new skills and learning about the LME’s business
  • Working in a small communications team – a willingness to get involved in supporting on other tasks, particularly for the marketing team
  • Microsoft Office literate
