We are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for an Internal Communications Manager, Group Content, to join the Internal Communications Team in London Kings Place or Derby.


Our Internal Communications team wins support for our strategy and engages our 40,000+ people in over 50 countries globally and across all business divisions.


The Internal Communications Manager, Group Content role is critical in developing group-wide content and campaigns as part of a high-energy team, working at pace to drive the transformation of a FTSE 5 company at a pivotal point in our history.
The position will suit a candidate able to plan and execute employee engagement activities in support of our One Rolls-Royce purpose – motivating and mobilising employees through the use compelling content and active channel management. They will also have a deep understanding of the impact external communications can have to drive belief in our business strategy and as an employer of choice.

What you will be doing:

 

This newly created Internal Communications Manager, Group Content role will lead the end-to-end development of strategic corporate content for our global internal audience.

  • Bring together digital content creation for our internal communications channels, e.g. intranet, Viva Engage, digital screens, company-wide email.
  • Lead on content for a number of key strategic campaigns, as agreed with the SVP Internal Communications.
  • Work with the wider communications team to advise on and execute effective communications tactics to reach our key audiences, coordinating execution across our different internal channels.
  • Responsible for leading an internal corporate content calendar that:
    • is in the service of our strategic communications objectives – prioritising the content that matters most and reducing the noise and distraction;
    • best addresses specific and often multiple audience requirements; and
    • remains relevant and engaging, not just in the ‘what’ but the ‘how’, i.e. through showcasing best-in-class creativity in content, format and delivery trends.
  • The role holder will be expected to maintain a finger on the pulse through building and maintaining:
    • an outstanding internal network (knowing who to go to for what); and
    • a strong external network of content creators and trend-setters, to bring the very best industry practices to our own content creation strategy.
  • Responsible for implementing the internal corporate content campaign strategy.
  • Successful execution of this role will contribute to a greater understanding of – and advocacy for – Rolls-Royce’s strategy and commercial and cultural objectives among our 40,000+ colleagues.

Preferred requirement:


  • The ideal candidate will have significant experience within communications, marketing and/or content creation within a large multi-national FTSE 100 company or equivalent organisation.
  • Having a keen eye for what makes a good story in line with a company’s commercial and cultural objectives. Comfortable in ‘constructively saying no’ to people.
  • An excellent writer, and a good sense of what makes engaging video and/or audio content.
  • A proven successful effective content background (can be external or internal).
  • A keen curiosity and ability to learn fast.
  • Knowledge of and passion for engineering, aerospace or technology sector.
  • Comfortable with constructive and strategic challenge, given the subjective nature of the role, and equally comfortable setting the agenda as receiving direction.
  • Excellent relationship builder, equally comfortable with very senior leaders as more junior colleagues.
  • Strong collaborator across a matrixed organisation – Divisions and corporate communications teams on the creation and scheduling of content.
  • Track record of managing agencies to time and budget, ability to coach teams to get the best out of an agency.
