At M&G our purpose is to give everyone real confidence to put their money to work. As an international savings and investments business with roots stretching back more than 170 years, we offer a range of financial products and services through Asset Management, Life and Wealth. All three operating segments work together to deliver attractive financial outcomes for our clients, and superior shareholder returns.

Through our behaviours of telling it like it is, owning it now, and moving it forward together with care and integrity; we are creating an exceptional place to work for exceptional talent.

We will consider flexible working arrangements for any of our roles and also offer work place accommodations to ensure you have what you need to effectively deliver in your role.

Internal Communications and Engagement is a key function within our Corporate Affairs team. Our role is an important one - we help M&G achieve its ambitions by making sure all of our colleagues are crystal clear on what we’re aiming to achieve together, how we want to do it, and what their part is in making it happen.

As an Internal Communications business partner, you’ll play a big part in making sure everyone in M&G Life feels informed, listened to, engaged and inspired.

You’ll work closely with Clive Bolton (Life CEO) and his senior leadership team to understand their business and growth ambitions, and create the communications plan that helps them deliver on this.

You won’t do that alone. You’ll report into the Head of Internal Communications, and work closely with the rest of our Internal Communications team and wider Corporate Affairs function. You'll also manage and work with a Communications & Engagement Executive to support you in delivering your plan for the Life business.

Key accountabilities for this role:

  • Creating a clear and effective communications approach – you’ll assess the needs of our business and create a communications framework and approach for the function(s) you support to help build a great place to work, and sets ourselves up for success
  • Delivering transformation set pieces – we have an ambitious change agenda. A big part of your role will be about how you get your head around this and create a storyboard which helps our business unit team really understand what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and what the journey will look like for them along the way. That’s about being creative, clear, and experienced in delivering effective change communications
  • Driving colleague engagement – you’ll understand the needs of our colleagues and play an important role as the conduit between ‘colleague sentiment’ and our leadership team – making sure that we’re listening and reacting to what our colleagues need, and evolving a communications plan that ultimately drives engagement at all levels of the business
  • Forging great relationships – you’ll build tight relationships with a number of key people across our business – whether that’s members of our leadership team, key influencers across the business, teammates in our Corporate Affairs & Brand team, or fellow business partners from our other support functions, such as the business partners from HR, Finance, Risk & Compliance, etc
  • Building a high performing team – in some roles, as required, you may lead and coach a communications executive who will report into you, helping them to create engaging and impactful content, and to prioritise their workload so we can deliver on what’s been agreed with key stakeholders, and manage expectations as required. You’ll also help to educate the wider team on your part of the business and the important role they play in driving our Group ambitions

Some of the skills and experience you’ll need:

  • A track record of business partnering at a senior level, ideally in the Financial Services industry… but it’s not a deal-breaker if not
  • A proven ability to plan and deliver complex change and transformation communications
  • Strong influencing skills that help you lead and challenge on conversations at an executive level - balancing the need to set clear expectations on where our team adds value, and a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Methodical and logical thinking, underpinned by an ability to communicate with absolute clarity
  • A creative itch to tell really great stories through engaging content within your teams
  • A reputation for getting stuff done – sometimes on your own, sometimes with your team, sometimes with people from across the business… but always to a high standard and on time
  • An interest in data and analytics to improve our approach and to create proof points that demonstrate our impact and help you manage expectations effectively
  • The ability to get the best from those around you and to contribute to an engaged, high performing team
  • An interest in developing a broad network, both internally and externally, to make sure your communications and engagement plans are relevant and informed, with an eye on industry trends and capabilities
