Sompo  has a unique opportunity for a Graduate Trainee in our Internal Audit team.

The Internal Audit department provides independent, objective assurance that Sompo International’s governance, risk management, and internal control processes are functioning effectively. As a global team, we deliver assurance and advisory services across core business and IT processes, helping the organisation identify emerging risks, strengthen controls, and drive continuous improvement. Graduate trainees gain exposure to diverse audits, work closely with stakeholders across regions, and develop strong analytical, communication, and professional skills as they contribute to safeguarding the organisation and enabling sustainable growth.

The graduate trainee will rotate across Internal Audit, JSOX, IT Audit, and the Professional Practices team, gaining hands‑on experience across all core facets of the audit function. This structured rotation provides a broad foundation in assurance, controls, technology, and audit methodology, preparing the trainee to contribute effectively within a global internal audit environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You will support audit planning, fieldwork, and reporting
  • Contribute to reporting audit issues to management and issue follow-up to ensure that issues are appropriately addressed.
  • Contribute to the testing and documentation of JSOX controls;
  • Assist with evaluating the design and effectiveness of IT processes and systems;
  • Help drive audit methodology, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives within Professional Practices.

What you’ll bring:

  • Applicants must be studying towards a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related degrees.
  • Curiosity and a genuine desire to learn across multiple areas of audit.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Comfort working with data and the ability to interpret information effectively.
  • Confidence engaging with stakeholders and collaborating across teams.
  • Good organisation and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a critical mindset when assessing risks and controls.
  • A proactive, positive attitude and enthusiasm for contributing to a global Internal Audit function.
