This role will be a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract starting in July 2026 and will be paid the London living wage. This role is based in London.

To be considered for this role, you will need to provide your CV and a short 1-page cover letter answering the following:

The Tech Dev team leads the research, evaluation, and deployment of cutting-edge technical initiatives across Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). Because SPE spans a wide range of business sectors, from production to distribution, our team members must operate with a broad technical toolkit, bringing together everything from upstream data analytics to hands-on production and post-production experience.

Within Tech Dev, the Future Entertainment Technology Group focuses on strategic, long-term growth initiatives. We explore emerging technology trends and build highly tailored technical proofs of concept (POCs) to validate future-facing ideas. All of this work is viewed through the lens of creativity and entertainment, the heart of our business.

What You’ll Do

A major responsibility of this role is technology evaluation. You’ll help assess emerging tools, platforms, and workflows across a wide spectrum of disciplines, including:

  • Multi-Modal Generative AI

  • Video Post-Production

  • Audio Post-Production

  • Development Frameworks (with a focus on emerging frameworks)

  • Production Tools (Cameras & Imaging)

  • Distribution / Pipeline Technology

You will research these areas, write detailed reports, and help build a knowledge base to be shared across the wider company.

Beyond evaluations, you’ll contribute to a broad range of innovation projects across the group. Project involvement will be fluid, dynamic, and highly collaborative. After your first six months, you’ll be encouraged to propose your own innovation project—and spend the following six months developing and activating that idea within the team.

What You’ll Learn
  • Extensive exposure to the entire studio ecosystem

  • Insights into the broader Sony Corporation, including cross-company interaction through the Distinguished Engineer Organisation

  • Strong technical documentation and reporting skills

  • Hands-on experience with production technology

  • Practical understanding of production app development

  • A deep appreciation for business-led innovation within a fast-moving, creative environment

What You Have
  • Experience in a STEM or creative field that integrates technology, whether that's from education, work experience or extracurricular activities

  • A genuine passion for entertainment and emerging technology

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills

  • A desire to learn beyond your comfort zone and explore outside your speciality

  • Familiarity with development frameworks (Python, JavaScript, etc.)

  • Familiarity with Generative AI tools (OpenAI, Gemini, Stable Diffusion, etc.)

  • Experience with physical production or post-production technologies - a plus, but not necessary

  • Curiosity, initiative and the enthusiasm to be a boundary spanner - someone who connects ideas, teams, and disciplines

  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of discretion

  • Please note that this role is based in the United Kingdom. To enable us to meet the statutory and regulatory obligations of the United Kingdom immigration system, you must have the appropriate immigration permission needed to work and reside in the United Kingdom for the duration of the employment.

Interview Process (beginning January 2026):

  • Initial screening call with Talent Acquisition

  • Virtual interview with the team

  • On-site interview with a task at our offices in Paddington, London.

The deadline for applications is Monday 15th December 2025. Please note that we are unable to consider submissions received after this date or outside the application process outlined in this job posting.

How we take care of you:

  • A choice of comprehensive health plan options that fit your lifestyle, including private medical insurance.

  • Rest and recharge during a week off during the winter holidays, in addition to the 25 days of paid annual leave.

  • Participate in extensive learning & development opportunities at all levels, including curated instructor-led classes and high-impact online resources.

  • Access to an employee online store filled with a variety of discounted Sony products.

  • Automatic enrolment in the Company’s Pension Plan

  • Free counselling and advisory service.

  • You will be automatically enrolled in the Company’s Life Insurance and Group Income Protection Plans, subject to any applicable service requirements.

  • In addition to the above, we have a range of other optional discounted benefits that are reviewed regularly (e.g., gym memberships, travel insurance, activity passes, car leasing, experience days and many more!)
