IDBS is a dynamic and innovative company providing purpose-built software solutions to address the data management challenges prominent across the BioPharma lifecycle and supply chain.

Leveraging more than 30 years of experience in life science informatics, we are uniquely positioned to deliver a portfolio of innovative BioPharma knowledge management technologies to streamline the capture, analysis, reporting and sharing of data required to accelerate the next generation of life-changing therapies.

Cloud-native and analytics-centric, our platforms enable customers in research, development and manufacturing to efficiently and compliantly access critical data and insights to make faster, smarter decisions with greater confidence.

IDBS serves thousands of users across hundreds of organisations around the globe. Our predominant customer base is Life Sciences and includes 23 of the top 25 pharmaceutical companies and more than 250 small and medium-sized pharma and BioPharma companies, CROs, CDMOs and CMOs.

IDBS is one of the 10 Life Sciences companies of Danaher. Together, we accelerate the discovery, development and delivery of solutions that safeguard and improve human health.

Are you looking for an industrial placement starting in August 2026 that uses your scientific knowledge but isn't based in a lab? An opportunity to develop IT skills, alongside a small intake of highly motivated students and to be a valued team member? Look no further... IDBS offers student placement positions for software testers within the Engineering department, which are typically one-year placements starting in the summer.

The objective of the placement is to gain industrial experience in the use of agile software development practices, additionally gaining proficiency as a tester.

Our product suite is web-based and delivered to our customers via the cloud as an integrated suite of SaaS applications. As a tester, you will gain hands-on experience in the testing, maintenance and delivery of high-quality professional software using many technologies and techniques that support and promote our cloud-first development & delivery approach.

Here is what the role looks like:

You will join one of our agile teams and will soon be working on the product delivered into our production systems. You will be buddied with an experienced tester with support, mentoring and on-the-job training given as required.

Experience or interest in data engineering, machine learning, AI frameworks, data analytics tools, or big data platforms is a plus.

The exact tech will depend on the agile team that you join.

Learn from the best (and maybe teach us something along the way!), come and join our team as a student placement software tester.

Qualifying Criteria:

To be eligible for this role, you must be currently enrolled on a university honours or master’s degree course that has a “placement year in industry” (or similar) associated with it. Please do not apply if you are graduating in 2026 and seeking a permanent graduate position.

You should be eager to join a small intake of high-calibre students where you learn, innovate, and have fun. You want to be part of an organisation that still has that start-up spirit and from day-one treats you like a valued and contributing member of the team.

Applications are invited from candidates studying for a Computer Science based degree (or similar). We will also consider students studying other disciplines if they have a strong interest and proven ability in software testing.

At IDBS, we believe in designing a better, more sustainable workforce. We recognise the benefits of flexible working arrangements for eligible roles and are committed to providing enriching careers, no matter the work arrangement.

Join our winning team today. Together, we’ll accelerate the real-life impact of tomorrow’s science and technology. We partner with customers across the globe to help them solve their most complex challenges, architecting solutions that bring the power of science to life.
