Location: Central London
Working style: Hybrid (London-based)
Duration: 6 months (flexible)
Type: Full-time preferred; part-time possible for the right candidate
Start date: ASAP (flexible)
About be/impactbe/impact is an award-winning social impact startup on a mission to upskill 10 million employees while breaking down barriers to education. Our platform helps employees retain knowledge by teaching what they’ve learned to changemakers in non-profits. It’s a win-win-win: better learning outcomes, measurable social value, and inclusive talent development.
Backed by leading angels – including the former head of J.P. Morgan’s DACH business – winners of an Innovate UK award, and B Corp certified, we already work with leading firms such as Roland Berger, Correlation Risk Partners or Sesame Banking Hall Group. Having raised a pre-seed in 2024, we’re now preparing our next fundraise to accelerate growth in 2026 and beyond.
Role OverviewWe’re raising a £1.5m round and looking for someone exceptional to help us get it done. This is not a support role, you’ll be a core part of the fundraising engine, working directly with the founders from day one.
You’ll build our financial model, manage the investor pipeline, craft outreach, prepare materials, and help run the day-to-day of the raise. You’ll see how an early-stage startup raises capital end-to-end – from investor targeting and first outreach to due diligence and close.
If you’re considering starting a company, moving into venture capital, or want to deeply understand how startups raise and build strategy, this role will give you that experience in six months. And if you’re outstanding, there may be opportunities beyond the internship – we’re always looking for great people.
How you’ll make an impactYour mission is simple: help us raise £1.5m in minimal time. Here’s how.
Financial model & data room• Build a robust 2 and 5-year financial models with scenario analysis (low/medium/high), grounded in real data from our accounting tools.
• Set up and maintain the investor data room – choose the right tools, organise the structure, and keep all materials up to date (financial model, pitch deck, key documents).
Investor pipeline & outreach• Build a comprehensive lead list of VCs, angels, and family offices aligned with our stage and sector.
• For each target, map out the best route in – mutual connections, portfolio companies, warm intros.
• Draft and run personalised outreach campaigns (LinkedIn, email): no spray-and-pray.
• Run family-office specific campaigns where relevant.
Pitch & materials• Support the founders in refining the pitch deck: reviewing, improving slides, and strengthening the narrative.
• Conduct competitor analysis and market research to sharpen our positioning.
• Prepare responses to investor questions and due diligence requests quickly and precisely.
Day-to-day management of the raise• Stay on top of all outreach and follow-ups: nothing falls through the cracks.
• Manage the founder’s fundraising calendar: schedule meetings, prepare briefings (who we’re meeting, what to reference, what to ask for).
• Follow up with investors on documents, intros, and next steps.
• Track and manage all investor interactions, keeping the pipeline organised.
Your profileWhat matters most• Strong financial and analytical skills: You can build a financial model from scratch – cash flows, unit economics, scenario analysis. You’re comfortable spending a full day in spreadsheets if that’s what it takes.
• Grit and drive: Fundraising is a grind. You need to be someone who keeps pushing – following up, iterating, improving – even when things are slow or uncertain.
• Outstanding written communication: From investor outreach emails to deck copy to internal updates, your writing is clear, sharp, and tailored to the audience.
• Organised and detail-oriented: A missed follow-up or a typo in a deck can cost a meeting. You bring structure without slowing things down.
• Self-starter: You don’t wait to be told what to do. You see what needs doing and you get on with it.
Background & skills• MBA (or business school masters’) student or recent graduate with strong quantitative skills, or equivalent profile.
• At least 1 year of work experience (including internships) – ideally in investment banking, M&A, strategy consulting, or a high-performance environment.
• Track record of consistently overperforming.
• Someone ambitious, very driven, and excited to learn fast.
Bonus points
• Previous startup experience, or having built something from scratch.
• Interest in social impact, education, or enterprise learning.
Why this role?• Work directly with founders: No layers, no bureaucracy. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with the founding team during a critical phase of the company.
• Build skills that transfer: Whether you go on to found a company, join a VC fund, or take a strategic role at a high-growth startup, this experience is directly applicable, you’ll know how to raise funds from start to finish!
• Be part of something meaningful: be/impact is on a journey to upskill 10 million people by 2035. You’ll help fuel the next stage of that mission.
• Potential to stay: We’re always looking for exceptional people. For the right person, this could lead to a longer-term role.
