We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst to join our Finance team. 


You’ll support data-driven decision-making through robust, high-quality analysis and clear communication.


Embedded in the Financial team, you’ll contribute to projects across teams, develop your skills, and help shape how insight is delivered across the business. 


This 6-month fixed term contract or staff secondment, is an ideal role for someone looking to grow their analytical skills and begin shaping their career in data.


About the role

  • Contribute to high-quality, stakeholder-relevant analysis
  • Maintain our high standards for analytical rigour, while also engaging more closely in insight communication and peer learning
  • Develop strong working relationships with peers and stakeholders, building trust and understanding across functions
  • Use SQL and visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau) to uncover patterns and generate insights
  • With guidance, contribute to team collaboration, including supporting onboarding or working alongside more experienced colleagues on larger projects
  • Use of data analytics for System testing 
  • Show curiosity about the Guardian’s journalism, business model, and broader industry context
  • Work compliantly and ethically within data privacy policy and data security


About you

  • Hands-on experience working with SQL and large datasets in a professional or academic setting
  • Exposure to delivering analysis and interpreting data to support decision-making
  • Familiarity with common data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker).
  • Understanding of how data can be applied to support business or editorial objectives
  • Ability to analyse unstructured data and interest in forensic details
  • Ideally Experience of data mapping, data migration and data testing although this isn’t essential
