Are you a qualified Actuary seeking a dynamic and impactful risk role within General Insurance?

We are looking for an exceptional Insurance Risk Manager to join our team. In this pivotal position, you will lead and motivate a talented group of Risk and Senior Risk Analysts, providing strategic direction and inspiring a culture of continuous improvement. Your New Role

  • Lead a team, providing strategic direction to managing risk within QBE European Operations (EO) and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Inspire, influence, and develop the team, ensuring performance standards are maintained and promoting QBE’s culture and values.

  • Engage with senior stakeholders to understand and support business requirements, providing insight and challenge to improve decision-making.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders, promoting customer focus and awareness of risk.

  • Collaborate with Global Risk Management teams to ensure alignment of risk management standards and practices with Group.

  • Provide high-quality insights to the business through deliverables and interactions, enabling better risk management and business decisions.

  • Deliver risk management initiatives and provide training where necessary, supporting process improvements across all functions.

  • Present and deliver key risk reporting and messaging to senior stakeholders, representing Risk at business forums and presenting as required.

  • Manage and deliver key reporting to the standards expected of the Board and EO Executives, focusing on quantitative elements of risk management.

  • Represent Risk at relevant forums, providing value-adding challenge and collaborating with other members of the Risk team on various initiatives.

  • Delivery of risk management activities, including independent validation of the capital model under Solvency II.

About You

  • Fellow of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) or equivalent, with at least 5 years’ post qualified experience

  • Excellent engagement and relationship management with the ability to influence at the most senior level

  • Excellent presentation, communication and written skills

  • Operate at pace with good organisational skills

  • Ability to inspire others and cultivate talent

  • Good knowledge of the internal model and related processes

  • Ability to analyse data to provide powerful insights

  • Conversant with risk management processes, language and tools/systems

  • Extensive experience in general insurance industry

  • Commercial acumen

  • Attention to detail
