Description

About Zego

At Zego, we understand that traditional motor insurance holds good drivers back. It's too complicated, too expensive, and it doesn't reflect how well you actually drive. Since 2016, we have been on a mission to change that by offering the lowest priced insurance for good drivers.
From van drivers and gig workers to everyday car drivers, our customers are the driving force behind everything we do. We've sold tens of millions of policies and raised over $200 million in funding. And we’re only just getting started.
Overview of the Product team:

We believe that product management is critical to Zego’s future success, so we’re building a team where Product Managers and Leaders have the opportunity to innovate, lead, and contribute to our mission. Our team ensures that product strategy underpins everything we do and that leaders are empowered to guide decisions in collaboration with cross-functional teams. As we scale, we aim to foster strong, data-driven product thinking to tackle both customer-facing and internal challenges.

About the Role

As the Insurance Product Strategy Lead, you will drive innovation at the intersection of Product and Commercial strategy. You will provide leadership in understanding market opportunities, aligning the product roadmap with industry trends, and ensuring we are consistently delivering cutting-edge products that cater to our customers’ needs. You will also be pivotal in engaging cross-functional teams and external stakeholders, aligning product mechanics with regulatory requirements, and maintaining underwriting flexibility to scale with Zego's ambitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market Research and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify opportunities for launching new products or enhancing existing ones. Rigorously assess competitor strategies to shape Zego's product offerings.
  • Innovation and Trend Analysis: Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements, using these insights to influence product innovation and continually refresh the company’s insurance product portfolio.
  • Strategic Planning and Alignment: Develop strategic product plans that align with Zego's broader business objectives. Work closely with Product leadership to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to insurance product development.
  • Consult within Product Organization: Partner with Product Managers to drive innovation, providing data, strategic plans, and insights that shape product roadmaps.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with teams across Product & Tech, underwriting, pricing, marketing, and customer service to ensure aligned product development and seamless delivery.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that product mechanics adhere to legal and regulatory requirements and lead risk management strategies across the product portfolio.
  • Insurance Capacity Engagement: Work with key stakeholders (pricing teams, underwriters, carriers, reinsurers) to gather insights and foster relationships that enhance both our underwriting capacity and product strategy.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Regularly monitor the performance of insurance products, analysing sales, profitability, and providing actionable insights and reports to senior management.

About You

  • Experience in product strategy within motor insurance is essential, with a track record of innovation.
  • You have expertise in market research and competitor analysis, translating these insights into innovative product strategies.
  • You are a strategic thinker, able to create a bridge between high-level business goals and practical product solutions.
  • You have experience collaborating cross-functionally, influencing stakeholders, and delivering products in complex environments.
  • You understand the insurance industry, including regulations, underwriting, and risk management, and have experience ensuring products meet compliance standards.
  • You have excellent communication skills and are able to present strategic insights to both senior management and cross-functional teams.
  • You are commercially minded, adaptable, and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments.

How we work

We believe that teams work better when they have time to collaborate and space to get things done. We call it Zego Hybrid.

Our hybrid way of working is unique. We don't mandate fixed office days. Instead, we foster a flexible approach that empowers every Zegon to perform at their best. We ask you to spend at least one day a week in our central London office. You have the flexibility to choose the day that works best for you and your team. We cover the costs for all company-wide events (3 per year), and also provide a separate hybrid contribution to help pay towards other travel costs. We think it’s a good mix of collaborative face time and flexible home-working, setting us up to achieve the right balance between work and life.

Benefits

We reward our people well. Join us and you’ll get a market-competitive salary, private medical insurance, company share options, generous holiday allowance, and a whole lot of wellbeing benefits. And that’s just for starters.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability status.
