The role

This role will look to lead on creating, embedding and maintaining an Insurance Framework across Railpen. As the SME, you will oversee Insurance arrangements, ensuring we have adequate cover in place to manage our risk and provide robustness in the decisions we are taking. This role will require you to work closely with the brokers, ensuring policies and premiums are appropriately sized to ensure adequate cover and value for money.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

The person

We are looking for someone who has experience in creating and embedding a robust Insurance framework including documenting the process and procedures to follow. You will have comprehensive insurance knowledge and the ability to horizon scan to understand how insurance policies may be impacted by potential internal and external risks and use this to inform on decisions when selecting cover. As the SME for insurance within Railpen, you’ll be comfortable in presenting and reporting at various internal forums, including risk committees on our insurance cover and active claims.

The successful candidate will look to build effective relationships with the Enterprise Risk team, external vendors and internal stakeholders across Railpen. You will possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to allow for reporting to ExCom and Committee presentation on the insurance strategy and model. The ability and desire to constructively challenge existing coverage is fundamental to ensure Railpen are getting clear value for money. You will demonstrate excellent attention to detail in the context of administration of insurance including claim notification to insurers and the annual renewal. A willingness and ability to work independently to help define what good looks like when developing and an insurance framework and supporting policies within Railpen is key.

Our values of integrity, community and alignment are the guiding principles that influence our behaviour. They help us make decisions and shape our relationships with others. They’re what we stand for. You will actively demonstrate our values, helping to create a safe environment, to place the needs of the community above oneself and, through a culture of ‘fair challenge’, align to the best interests of our members.
