Barings Summer Internship Programme

The Innovation and Data Insights team is seeking a summer intern, based in Barings’ London office to assist the team evaluating innovation opportunities and advance modern methods to solve a wide range of real-world problems involving the use of artificial intelligence. Our team focuses on fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity and forward-thinking, aiming to identify and capitalize on emerging technologies to meet the evolving needs of our clients and stakeholders. This dynamic environment offers a unique opportunity to engage with a range of diverse projects and novel approaches that could profoundly transform how the firm operates.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate must excel in working in a highly collaborative environments with business experts and the technologist in order to conduct independent research and prototyping innovative solutions. The candidate must have a strong passion to apply machine learning methods to a variety of domains involving large language models and natural language processing. The candidate will be a quick learner, results oriented and with the ability to work in an agile environment. They will be adept at identifying opportunities for enhancing processes across multiple departments and will play an important role in cultivating an environment that encourages and embraces creative thinking throughout the organization.

 Primary Responsibilities

• 9-week programme with potential to convert to full-time offer based on strong performance and the needs of the business
• Support the Innovation & Data Insights team:
  • Assessing creative and innovative solutions
  • Prototyping innovative solutions
  • Researching emerging technology trends and applications
  • Assisting with special ad-hoc projects, presentations and initiatives
• Support the delivery of innovation projects from conception to implementation
• Foster a culture of creativity and experimentation within the organization

Qualifications

• Currently in penultimate year of university, on track for a 2.1 or higher, with a degree completion date of Spring 2026.
• Computer Science, Data Science or related fields degrees preferred
• A strong interest in Finance and Investment Management
• Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office applications and sourcing data from the internet and various publications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Confidence and ability to work both, independently and in a highly collaborative team environment
• Curious, detail-oriented and motivated to identify solutions to complex problems
