You will work closely with cross-functional teams, turning innovative ideas into robust, scalable, and user-friendly features.

This year, Dropbox is on a mission to expedite the creation and implementation of AI-enabled products by providing a comprehensive technology stack that facilitates rapid prototyping and reliable deployment of AI-augmented functionality.

Our Engineering Career Framework is viewable by anyone outside the company and describes what’s expected for our engineers at each of our career levels. Check out our blog post on this topic and more here.

Responsibilities
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable data platform components to support analytics, governance, and AI/ML workloads across the enterprise.
  • Collaborating closely with data product managers, analysts, and domain data owners to understand business needs and deliver reliable, discoverable, and high-quality data products.
  • Contributing to the development and execution of short- and long-term DataOps roadmaps, balancing business impact, governance requirements, and technical scalability.
  • Actively contributing to our team and company culture through mentorship, participation in interviews, and involvement in new initiatives.
  • Improving platform reliability and data trust by building automated testing, data quality checks, and metadata-driven workflows.
  • Supporting fellow engineers through feedback, code reviews, and improvement of internal tools and processes.

On-call work may be necessary occasionally to help address data pipeline issues, platform outages, or other operational problems, with the goal of maintaining a stable and high-quality data experience for our customers.

Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or software engineering roles.
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and deploying large-scale data pipelines or platforms with a focus on quality, governance, and reliability.
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining ETL/ELT workflows, APIs, and integrations with cloud-based data systems.
  • Ability to handle end-to-end data platform features, from ingestion to serving, and deliver minimum viable products efficiently.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations if required by the team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Contributions to open source projects or technical communities.
  • Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Snowflake or similar big data platforms.
  • Experience with DataOps.
  • Programming experience in Python and SQL.
