Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring system stability, security, and scalability. You will play a critical role in supporting day-to-day operations, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing solutions to improve efficiency.

  • System Maintenance and Management:

Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers

Perform regular system upgrades, updates, and patches.

Monitor system performance to ensure high availability and reliability.

  • Web and Application Server Administration:

Manage and maintain application servers running Apache and Tomcat.

Support deployment and troubleshooting of Java-based applications.

Ensure optimal performance and scalability of web services.

  • Network Administration:

Manage network configurations, firewalls, and security settings

Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues promptly.

Optimize network performance and ensure data integrity.

  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

Proactively monitor infrastructure health and respond to alerts and incidents to minimize downtime.

Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.

  • Security and Compliance:

Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures, including firewalls and encryption.

Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.

Manage access controls and maintain data privacy.

  • Support and Troubleshooting:

Provide Level 2/3 technical support to end-users and teams.

Investigate and resolve incidents and service requests in a timely manner.

Document system configurations and procedures

  • Backup and Recovery:

Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.

Ensure the integrity and availability of backup systems.

  • Automation and Optimization:

Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline administrative tasks.

Recommend and implement improvements to IT infrastructure.

  • On-Call Rotation:

Participate in an on-call rotation to address critical system issues outside of regular working hours.

Respond promptly to incidents to minimize downtime and impact

Requirements
  • Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (equivalent experience).

Proven experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or similar role (3+ years preferred).

  • Technical Skills:

Strong experience in Linux server administration.

Scripting and automation skills (eg., Ansible, Bash)

Hands-on experience with Tomcat, Apache and Java-based applications.

Experience with virtualization and cloud platforms (e.g., VMware).

Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP).

Working with CloudFlare to optimize performance and security

Monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Nagios

Version control, Subversion, Jenkins, Github

  • Good to know

Development ecosystem and architecture, Frontend/Backend components

Web application basics, request methods, response codes, headers (HTTP, TLS, openssl)

DNS, email deliverability, postfix

Knowledge of SQL is a plus.

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as; LPIC-1 and LPIC-2, RHCSA and CCNA are considered an asset.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
