Job summary

The role will support the IFRS 17 Manager in the preparation of the quarterly IFRS 17 internal and external reports, including associated management information, operational and reconciliation processes. The candidate will be required to prepare analyses and reports to support the information produced. There will also be opportunity to assist with other related project work.

Main duties

o    Embed IFRS 17 into BAU, assist with production of Chaucer IFRS 17 reporting to the parent company and improve analytics

o    Prepare quarterly consolidated management reporting including balance sheet and income statement, MI analysis, investigation of trends and resolution of queries

o    Produce UK GAAP to IFRS 17 reconciliation to support management review of results

o    Prepare half and full year IFRS 17 group reporting templates including explanatory notes

o    Update and maintain IFRS 17 reporting timetable

o    Review and maintain IFRS 17 chart of accounts

o    Produce analytics and memos supporting IFRS 17 reporting

o    Liaising with other finance, data and actuarial team members involved in the end-to-end reporting process to ensure the result is delivered in the timeframe and standard required

o    Prepare internal reports, account reconciliations and financial statement analyses to explain IFRS 17 results including ad hoc requirements from Group

o    Produce analytical tools, diagnostics and analytical memos supporting each one of the reports produced

o    Support the audit process, liaising with internal and external auditors ensuring timely completion

o    Maintain a sound system of internal controls

o    Take on responsibility for keeping documentation of IFRS 17 quarterly procedures and reconciliations up to date and relevant

Our requirementsRelevant experience   
  • IFRS/UK GAAP Insurance financial reporting experience

  • Exposure to IFRS 17 financial reporting within a Lloyd’s Syndicate

  • Experience with Lloyd’s of London Syndicate accounting and reporting desirable

Technical skills        
  • Working knowledge of UKGAAP and Solvency II

  • Advanced experience of using Excel

  • Advanced report writing skills

  • Very good verbal communication

  • Exposure to IFRS 17 insurance accounting standards

Education & Experience
  • ACA or ACCA qualified, ideally having trained with a top 20 accountancy firm

Personal skills
  • A sense of accountability and ownership of the work assigned

  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and numeracy

  • Self-starter, requiring minimum supervision, with the ability to solve problems and find solutions

  • Independent individual with ‘can do’ attitude and commitment to delivery, able to work under pressure

  • Excellent communication skills at every level within the organisation

  • Team player, with good interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross functional teams

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, showing flexibility when required

  • Works on own initiative, self-starter requiring minimum supervision, with ability to problem solve
