The Role

As a Transformation Consultant you will play a pivotal role in delivering expert advice and support services to Strada's clients. This position is crucial for our UK business, focusing primarily on UK payroll, offering hands-on support for complex issues, compliance, and procedural enhancements, whether as part of an HRIS or operations transformation, or payroll-specific engagements and support across our leading client base.

Responsibilities

Payroll Advisory & Client Delivery

  • Deliver payroll assessments, audits, and maturity reviews to identify risks, compliance gaps, and improvement opportunities.

  • Analyse end-to-end payroll processes across multiple entities, recommending future-state models aligned to HR and Finance objectives.

  • Advise on payroll controls, accuracy, governance, and legislative compliance (e.g. RTI, PAYE, P11D, auto-enrolment).

  • Support global payroll strategy design, including outsourcing/vendor selection, shared services, or in-house delivery models.

Technology & Integration Support

  • Technology & Integration Support

  • Contribute to payroll technology assessments and vendor evaluations.

  • Support design and documentation of payroll interfaces with cloud HCM platforms such as Workday and SAP SuccessFactors.

  • Assist in user acceptance testing (UAT), data validation, parallel runs, and cutover planning for payroll implementations.

Client Engagement & Consulting Skills

  • Participate in client workshops and working sessions to gather requirements, map processes, and document findings.

  • Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders in HR, Finance, IT, and Payroll operations.

  • Draft client-ready deliverables, including reports, process documentation, recommendations, and presentation materials.

Practice & Team Development

  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, toolkits, and service development within the Payroll Advisory team.

  • Support new business opportunities by contributing to proposals and pre-sales conversations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues across Advisory, Operations, and Cloud Transformation.

Experience

Required

  • 3+ years of payroll experience, with strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance (e.g. HMRC processes, RTI, PAYE).

  • Demonstrated experience in payroll operations, improvement, or transformation—ideally in a consulting or shared services environment.

  • Exposure to global or multi-country payroll environments and operating models.

  • Hands-on familiarity with one or more payroll technologies (e.g. SAP ECP, Workday or Oracle Payroll, ADP, Zellis) and HCM platforms (Workday, SuccessFactors, Oracle).

  • Working knowledge of process mapping, gap analysis, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and client-facing skills.

  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and report writing.

Desirable

  • CIPP or similar payroll qualification.

  • Exposure to project delivery methodologies (e.g. Agile, PMP, PRINCE2).

  • Experience working in a HR/payroll transformation consultancy.

  • Understanding of payroll vendor transitions, business case development, or SLA/KPI design.
