Join us as Head of Treasury Legal, Funding & Disclosure

  • In this highly important role, you’ll be responsible for the provision of legal advice to support Treasury on its strategic priorities and the wider disclosure requirements across the bank
  • You’ll lead, develop, and line manage professional, capable, and engaged teams to meet the needs of the business and customers
  • Recognised as a key specialist contact, you’ll benefit from considerable exposure, providing stakeholders with advice on material legal and reputational issues as well as debt funding and disclosure requirements
What you'll do

As our Head of Treasury Legal, Funding & Disclosure, you’ll manage and coordinate the delivery of legal advice that is readily understandable to nonlawyers, delivered within relevant timescales, is commercial and proactive, and manages and minimises legal and regulatory risks. You’ll also provide advice to key stakeholders on material legal and reputational issues around Treasury and disclosure requirements, leveraging in-depth knowledge of the UK and US requirements.

In addition to this, you’ll:

  • Manage legal costs and drive a culture of disciplined cost management and controls
  • Ensure that work on transactions is focussed on a One Bank approach and that there is collaboration across the team and the wider bank
  • Manage external advisers and other stakeholders in successfully delivering transactions and projects on a timely basis
  • Deliver Treasury and Disclosure Legal services to Group, NatWest Bank, NatWest Markets, NatWest Markets N.V. and RBSI as appropriate
  • Act in accordance with good corporate governance principles and with all delegated authority and expenditure limits, and oversee adherence to limits for direct reports
  • Horizon scan to ensure that developments impacting our funding and disclosure requirements are understood and that all required changes are implemented ahead of deadlines
The skills you'll need

We’re looking for a US and UK qualified lawyer with knowledge and experience of funding and disclosure requirements, and risks across multiple jurisdictions. You’ll have an understanding of our wider organisational strategy and in-depth knowledge of the industry and commercial environments.

You’ll also demonstrate:

  • Expert knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment and issues within specialist areas of law
  • Knowledge of risk frameworks, controls, and escalation
  • Experience of operational and financial planning
  • Strong leadership skills with experience of organising, leading, and motivating professional teams
  • A skilled communicator with a track record of influencing a wide range of audiences to represent the function and communicating with external bodies
  • In-depth knowledge of how we operate and how customer businesses and functions contribute to delivering our strategic priorities
