Newly created position to ensure Lloyd’s is able to quantify and respond to large and reputational risk events, both current and emerging.  As the subject matter expert this person will provide trusted advice to the Director of Claims, leading on all technical claims aspects and be the first point of contact at Lloyd’s for colleagues and the market for claims matters that are in need of escalation.  A highly visible role leading the market by;

  • Developing and managing a large loss protocol that:
    • Stipulates triggers of large and commercially/reputationally sensitive events
    • Coordinates contribution of different functions e.g. Legal, Reserving, Exposure Management, UW, etc
    • Adopts an assumption-based approach, culminating in a likely outcome
    • Condenses key drivers/messages, to the right audience, at the right time
  • Representing Claims with the Corporation’s key stakeholder groups to: inform decisions when considering wider strategy, business planning, new entrants and products
  • Harnessing intel from strong relations with key global industry decision makers to overlay the macro view, including commercial and Political influences
  • Focusing on emerging risk by:
    • Developing intelligence streams to identify emerging risk
    • Reporting regularly to the business, via deep dive papers and reporting packs
  • Building strong relations with the LMA/key industry groups, to assist and monitor the market response to significant events, including vendor performance, and sharing lessons learned

To deliver this highly technical role, you will need cross class experience ideally having been involved with large dispute resolution, particularly in the US, UK and Europe, will have an extensive network of contacts of global insurers, key advisors, brokers and managing agents and a comprehensive understanding of the macroeconomic, political and climatic market impacts.
