Head of QA/Test

About Us:

ShipperHQ is headquartered in Austin, TX making a big impact in the e-commerce shipping space. Founded in 2009, we are a premier supplier of shipping software for e-commerce sites, selling to both SMB and Enterprise customers. We have 50+ team members spread across the globe with 30+ members based in Austin, Texas. What You'll Do:
The Head of QA/Test is responsible for defining the QA strategy and approach for the product including strategic thinking, planning, and providing expertise throughout the entire product development life cycle. This role is responsible for building the QA team as well as managing the function and direction of the team. The Head of QA provides regular direction, mentoring, and coaching to QA team members, ensuring the success of the team’s manual and automation efforts. This is a hands-on role developing automation frameworks writing tests and executing. 

Your Impact:

  • Responsible for defining QA Practices, strategy, approach, and execution across our products.
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise within Test Automation and Quality Assurance.
  • Accountable for automation and manual test output, including release and deployment testing
  • Mentor, and provide leadership to the QA Team.
  • Work closely with the DevOps team to define the optimal solution for each platform and provide long-term solutions for CI/CD.
  • Focus on continuous QA improvements including usage of appropriate testing tools, test techniques for functional, performance, automation, etc.
  • Build, define & develop an automation framework for the QA Team.
  • Owns all QA staging environments. 
  • Monitor and report on all the QA activities, test results, leaked defects, root cause analysis and identifying areas of improvement. Implement steps required to improve the processes.
  • An escalation point for all matters related to testing and quality assurance and operates as a primary point of contact for the QA team.
  • Work with Engineering managers to develop and execute QA strategies to meet department and company quality goals.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of QA lead experience
    • 8+ years of professional software testing experience, ideally on a SaaS platform
    • Experience with Agile methodology and scrum
    • Excellent ability to organize and manage multiple projects/releases
  • Tech Savvy:
    • Demonstrable experience in improving test automation
    • Experience with AWS and CI/CD
    • Technical expertise with automation tools, including Playwright
  • Personality Traits:
    • Passion for mentoring and developing junior QA team members 
    • A deep understanding and passion for QA
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
    • Detail-oriented and high-quality bar
  • Attitude:
    • You're adept at navigating ambiguity and excelling in dynamic, rapidly growing organizations. You approach challenges with a positive attitude and take initiative to find solutions.

Logistics:

  • This is a full-time remote working remotely in the UK, but we require employees to be within a 2-hour train ride from London for regular working sessions with the team
  • Working hours are Mon-Fri, 9:30 am - 6:00 pm with a 1-hour break for lunch
  • Compensation is based on experience
