Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join the Visa Open Banking Solutions team as the Head of Product Design.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in creating best-in-class user interfaces and experiences, ensuring that users enjoy a seamless and engaging journey throughout the entire product flow. This role demands a keen eye for detail, creativity, and a deep understanding of user-centered design principles to consistently deliver exceptional and intuitive user experiences.

The Head of Product Design will be part of the tech and product organization, responsible for the overall design direction and delivery of a complex portfolio of products. In terms of impact, this person will have a key role in shaping the design direction and vision across a large organization, while also improving design efficiency and outcome. The role will have manager responsibility for a team of highly skilled multi-disciplinary designers (3-5 direct reports), and it will also directly contribute to key design projects, for example the ongoing management and upgrade of the design system used by the teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and motivate design strategy and decisions throughout Visa Open Banking while offering design direction to teams and stakeholders.
  • Establish yourself as a key strategic partner in the product and tech organization, effectively manage a wide variety of stakeholders, being the voice of design in the extended leadership team
  • Establish design principles and standards for high quality deliveries
  • Lead a team of multi-disciplinary designers to support their career, skill progression and growth.
  • Support and mentor your team in the delivery of design projects to ensure high quality and successful outcomes
  • Lead and deliver key design projects yourself, actively contributing to the team’s design output and making sure that you lead by example in the team
  • Lead the creation and rollout of a unified design system
  • Identify high-impact initiatives that will enable our product teams to deliver an exceptional experience to their end users
  • Continuously improve ways of working with design across the organization
  • Collaborate and drive integration efforts between Visa Open Banking and the larger Visa design organizatio

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • Excellent UX and UI design skills, demonstrated by a strong portfolio
  • 5+ years of design leadership experience in a digital product organization
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a large organization
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to find a way forward even when things are uncertain and motivate the team
  • Experience with user research and usability testing
  • Experience with design in Figma
  • Experience with managing and maintaining a design system
  • Preferably experience in the payments and financial industry
